Associate Restaurant Manager

Overview The Associate Restaurant Manager (ARM) serves as the assistant to the Restaurant General Manager and provides management coverage of operating hours and direct supervision of operations in a single restaurant. Key focus areas include driving customer service excellence, maintaining company standards, supervising food handling procedures, and exercising basic shift-to-shift financial control to meet profit margin targets. The ARM assumes responsibility for specific financial controls, crew training, and screening of prospective employees under the direction of the RGM. The ARM performs hands-on operational duties and continually trains staff, responds to customer service needs, and models appropriate skills and behaviors in the restaurant. The role is intended for promotability to RGM within about 18 months, with progression tracked via an Individual Development Plan. ARM roles not progressing within the first year may be subject to demotion or termination. Principle Accountabilities Customer Satisfaction / Product Quality Maintain fast, accurate service, positive guest relations, and ensure products meet company quality standards. Model and train managers and crew to resolve customer issues and meet or exceed service standards. Track, analyze, and resolve sources of customer complaints. Ensure that food safety standards are met. Financial Develop and drive the restaurant's annual operating plan. Analyze sales, labor, inventory, and other controllable accounts; take corrective actions to meet margin and sales targets. Train and mentor subordinates on financial analyses and profitability. Develop store CAPEX requests and act as the principal interface with vendors. Operations Ensure facilities and equipment are maintained to company standards. Monitor inventory, food preparation, and order fulfillment to ensure adherence to standards. Establish and monitor speed with service (SWS) targets and resolve bottlenecks to achieve goals. Oversee development and revision of weekly management and crew schedules. Human Resources Direct all restaurant-level HR activity, including crew hiring decisions, Learning Zone planning, and performance management. Handle compensation, employee relations up to termination, and hands-on management training for leadership. Develop and monitor staffing plans and sourcing of crew. Ensure fair and equitable treatment and compliance with applicable workplace regulations. Success Measures Achievement of the restaurant annual operating plan. Margin improvement and sales growth compared to prior periods. Weekly performance in sales, labor, and COGS; PRC and DISSAT scores; Learning Zone certifications; turnover and staffing levels. Restaurant Operations Proficient in food preparation, production, delivery, and food safety procedures; troubleshooting basics. Educational Attainment / Experience High school diploma or GED. Supervisory experience in food service or retail. Demonstrated ability to maintain financial controls and coach hourly employees. Proven ability to drive customer satisfaction, financial performance, and employee satisfaction. Pay and Benefits Wage: $18.00 – $22.00 per hour (Associate Restaurant Manager). PTO accrual: 4.0 hours per pay period (13 days/year); after five years, 5.54 hours per pay period (18 days/year). Eligible for medical, dental, and health insurance. Short-term and long-term disability after 90 days of employment. Eligible for period bonus if store achieves goals.
