Job DescriptionJob Summary:Mercury Systems Chantilly, VA location offers a great opportunity for a mechanical engineer with at least 4 years' experience to join a small, collaborative engineering team in an electronics production focused environment. You will have a hands-on opportunity to design, analyze, and test complex subsystem and rugged server designs, including multiple methods of cooling utilizing the latest technologies.Job Responsibilities:Mechanical engineering tasks related to electronic subsystem and server design with components based on open standards. Assignments include: mechanical packaging design, printed wiring board layout and ECAD support, connector selection, label & cable design, test equipment, prototype inspection & assembly, environmental testing, and the documentation required to procure and assemble hardwareCollaborating with other disciplines including Hardware/Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality Engineering, and Procurement as part of your daily activitiesTaking products from concept design all the way through integration, test, and production releaseConceptualization, design, development, analysis and documentation of mechanical hardware and/or systems for use in rugged military applicationsDesign of complex fixturing to support testing and advanced manufacturing techniquesCreation of complex models and detailed drawings using SolidWorksCommunication of design concepts and document product to diverse audiences internal and external to MercurySupporting product verification testing such as thermal, airflow, vibration, mechanical shock, humidity, and environmental stress screeningDriving procurement of prototype material to verify form, fit, and functionFailure analysis of discrepant material in coordination with manufacturing and application engineeringDrafting Test plans and Inspection reports as part of verification and validationStructuring Bills of Material (BOMs/PLs)Drafting and managing Engineering Change Requests (ECRs/ECOs) Required Qualifications:Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in mechanical or aerospace engineering or another related technical fieldTypically requires a minimum of 4 years of relevant experienceAn understanding of heat transfer and thermal managementGeneral knowledge of both conventional manufacturing techniques and advanced manufacturing, such as additive manufacturingExperience with 3D CAD software, such as SolidWorksFamiliarity with material control processes and documentation such as routers, work instructions, etc. and tools related to those functions (Agile, Oracle, EPDM, etc.)Excellent organizational and verbal/written communication skillsProficiency with standard documentation and presentation toolsAbility to work in a fast-paced and dynamic multi-disciplinary environmentThis position requires you to have or obtain a government security clearance in the future.
