By joining ASI, you become an integral part of a team that is revolutionizing how the world moves, operates, and automates.Job SummaryThe primary responsibilities of a Mechanical Engineer includes researching, planning, and designing mechanical and electromechanical products and systems for ASI's robotic unmanned vehicles. Designs, develops, and tests all aspects of mechanical components, equipment, and machinery. Applies knowledge of engineering principles to design products such as engines, instruments, controls, robots, machines, etc. Conducts product testing and creates models and prototypes. Mechanical Engineers are also responsible for directing and coordinating activities involved in fabrication, operation, application, installation, and repair of mechanical or electromechanical products and systems. A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required. Reports to a manager/supervisor. Occasionally directed in several aspects of the work.Essential Duties And Responsibilities· Researching and analyzing data including customer design proposals, specifications, and manuals to determine feasibility of design or application.· Designing products or systems for robotic control using electrical, mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic principles and components.· Participating in fabrication and installation activities to ensure products and systems conform to engineering design and customer specifications.· Coordinating operation, maintenance, and repair activities that optimize utilization of machines and equipment.· Designing products and systems to interface machines, hardware, and software.· Evaluating field installations and recommending design modifications to eliminate machine or system malfunctions.· Contribute to design reviewsEssential Education, Work Experience, Job Skills· Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related field. Masters Degree preferred.· 3-5 years Mechanical Engineering related experience.· 3-5 years of machine & product design experience using Solid Works, Pro-E, or Catia.· Proficient design skills in CAD/Solidworks software.· Extensive experience in documenting design reviews.· Proficient at documenting requirements.· Must have experience in finite Element Analysis.· Experience using hand calculations of stresses.· Must have experience with GD&T· Proficient in using math software like Matlab or Mathcad.· Familiar with failure modes and effects analysis.· Understanding of manufacturing processes.· Familiar Patent Law.· Understanding of software development.· Familiar with Systems; Heavy Equipment; Hydraulics; Gearing and MotorPhysical Requirements· Ability to remain in a stationary position at a computer workstation constantly throughout the workday.· Ability to constantly operate a computer and other office productivity machinery.· Ability to effectively complete job responsibilities on computer monitors.· Ability to effectively communicate and exchange information in person, via phone, and through other electronic means.· Able to traverse an office environment.At Autonomous Solutions, Inc.
