In this role, you will provide integrated support to patients and pharmacists through a hands-on approach to delivering exceptional patient care and medication adherence support.This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented pharmacy professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is passionate about improving patient outcomes while building a rewarding career within specialty pharmacy services.Required: Candidates must be nationally certified (CPhT) and registered as a Pharmacy Technician in the state of employment.Key ResponsibilitiesInterpret and enter prescriptions accuratelyClarify prescription orders with pharmacists and/or cliniciansLabel and fill prescriptions for pharmacist verificationPerform pharmaceutical calculationsIdentify medications requiring special handling, storage, refrigeration, or hazardous medication protocolsAssemble medication-related supplies, including sharps containers, syringes, needles, alcohol swabs, and bandagesPrepare medications for delivery to patients and departmentsAnswer, resolve, and triage inbound patient inquiriesConduct outbound medication adherence and therapy check-in callsObtain refill prescriptions and coordinate renewalsResolve insurance-related issues and assist patients with financial assistance resourcesMaintain pharmacy inventory, including medication ordering and receivingProvide patient education and medication support via phoneEnter and manage pharmacy data, including claim adjudication and follow-up activitiesUtilize database applications to organize and maintain accurate recordsIdentify trends, resolve issues, and recommend operational improvementsParticipate in continuous process improvement initiativesCollaborate effectively with stakeholders across the organizationMaintain strict confidentiality of sensitive patient informationStay current with industry knowledge through continuing education and professional developmentPerform other duties as assignedQualificationsRequired Licensure & CertificationActive Pharmacy Technician registration in the state of employment preferredCurrent National Pharmacy Technician Certification (CPhT) preferredIf additional state-specific certifications are required, candidates must obtain them within a mutually agreed timeframe as a condition of continued employmentExperienceRequired: 1+ year of Pharmacy Technician experiencePreferred: 5+ years of Pharmacy Technician experienceTechnical SkillsStrong phone and patient communication skillsProficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft WordAbility to quickly learn new pharmacy systems and database applicationsStrong organizational, analytical, and interpersonal skillsDesired TraitsOrganized and detail-orientedHigh integrity and professionalismDependable and quality-focusedEmpathetic and patient-centeredStrong listener and communicatorEnergetic, motivated, and team-orientedAble to maintain discretion and confidentiality when handling sensitive informationCompensation & Equal OpportunityShields Health Solutions is committed to pay transparency and equal employment opportunity.Hourly Pay Range: $22.00 - $24.00 per hourActual compensation will be based on a variety of factors, including geographic location, skills, qualifications, education, experience, and other job-related considerations.Build Your Career in Specialty PharmacyIf you're a dedicated Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) seeking a rewarding opportunity in specialty pharmacy, patient care, medication adherence, insurance resolution, pharmacy operations, and patient support, we encourage you to apply and join our growing team in Albany, NY.California residents employed by or applying for work at Shields have certain privacy rights.
