Machinist I – Taylor Forge Engineered Systems, Inc. Job Summary: Perform basic layout and machining operations on components and products. Responsibilities Operate most types of machine tools (horizontal and vertical boring mills, lathes, milling machines) in an efficient manner. Perform basic layout work in accordance with drawings, standards, and specifications. Align and set up components in the machine tools. Grind tools to the proper cutting geometry. Report abnormal conditions of equipment to the Foreman. Work safely and securely and comply with safety rules and procedures. Perform small repairs and preventative maintenance on machine tools. Operate jib cranes, forklifts, and other mobile equipment (except heavy cranes) to move material, components, and equipment within the plant. Occasionally operate overhead cranes and tow motors to support small moves and continue production within the department. Perform general laborer duties as required (e.g., grinding, loading/unloading trucks and railcars, bricking furnace). Keep working area clean and perform housekeeping duties around the plant (e.g., pick up tools, roll‑up hoses and cables, sweep).
