Autobody Paint HelperThe purpose of the Autobody Paint Helper is to perform skilled work in preparing, refinishing and painting metal and other surfaces.Duties and ResponsibilitiesEnforce all company policies as defined in the SMEG Company HandbookInteract with customers, vendors and entire service staffMaintain neat and professional personal appearance at all times, wearing appropriate logo assigned company shirtsMeasures area to be painted; determines quantity and type of paint to use for the project.Identifies and orders appropriate paint colors and finishes, mixing if needed.Prepares surfaces to be painted, which may include removing prior finishes through chemicals, grit blast, or other methods.Masks, removes, covers, or otherwise protects hardware, trim, and other nonpainted surfaces.Applies primer and finish coats to fire apparatus using lacquers and synthetic paints and enamels.Understanding of productivity goals and review for areas in need of improvementParticipate in morning meetings with service staff to plan the dayMaintain accurate, timely and legible company designed reports and paperworkComplies with chemical and waste storage and disposal regulations and best practices.Cleans and maintains spray guns and other painting equipmentMaintains a clean work area.Performs other duties as assigned.QualificationsExcellent customer service skills, both verbal and written.Good knowledge of the processes, techniques and materials used in painting automotive equipmentMust have the ability to work independently or with less supervisionShould have excellent verbal communication skillsMust have the ability to work under pressureExperience within Fire and Emergency related industryMust be self-motivatedExceptional organizational methodsAttention to detail and the ability to provide consistent workDedication to customer service and business successAbility to engage in and maintain positive relationships with employees, vendors and customersComputer skills: Must be proficient with Microsoft Outlook Email, Microsoft Word & Excel programs as well with any company provided softwareEducation and/or ExperienceHigh School Diploma or GEDFormal Training and/or Trade School Training PreferredValid Driver's License and eligible to be covered under the Siddons Martin insurance policyTraining Programs and Regular Business MeetingsWith appropriate notification, the Autobody Paint Helper agrees to attend and participate in all career specific seminars, training courses, industry related certification programs and internal company training and or meetings recommended or scheduled by the business owner/operator.General ConductIt is the responsibility of the Autobody Paint Helper to always conduct him/herself in a professional manner. This includes the agreement not to use any foul or objectionable language towards any customer, vendor, co-worker or employee. To refrain from any negative comments about any customer, vendor, competitor or employee.
