Pediatric Dentist - Part Time

Pediatric DentistThis position is part of the dental team. This position is responsible for delivering clinical dental services and preventive dental care in both clinic and outreach settings. This position provides preventive and diagnostic services, treatment, patient education and referral care. Participates in quality improvement initiatives as assigned by the Chief Clinical Officer.Essential duties include:Providing complete, comprehensive outpatient care for dental/oral conditions to include oral examination and treatment of conditions, including follow-up of problems detected.Instructing assigned dental assistants.Assisting Director of Dental Services and/or Chief Clinical Officer with competencies and clinical evaluation of clinical staff.Making appropriate referrals to internal disciplines of CHC/SEK and/or external resources/agencies for additional services required.Prescribing medications for patients for treatment of conditions, as indicated.Providing dental consultation to other providers within CHC/SEK as needed.Ensuring accurate, timely, and clear medical record documentation.Providing appropriate follow-up with dental support staff to include telephone/written correspondence (e.g. inform patients of test results).Assuring integration of patient education into all treatment phases.Participating in dental outreach activities as assigned.Providing clear written and oral communication to patients/guardians and employees.Participating in an on-call system for after-hours care for established patients of the pediatric practice.Ability to weigh the relative costs and benefits of a potential action.Assuring that the dental policies as related to the services of CHC/SEK are current and accurate.Performing other duties as assigned.Qualifications include:Full licensure to practice dentistry in the State of Kansas.Completion of an accredited pediatric practice residency program.Board Certification in Pediatric Dentistry, preferred.BLS certification is required.PALS certification is required.Valid Driver's License as travel is a requirement for this position.A strong community/public health orientation, preferred.Commitment to serving the underserved.Knowledge, skills and abilities include:Social and cultural sensitivity appropriate to ethnically and economically diverse patient-and employee-baseDemonstrate knowledge of the rationale of appropriate patient care.Communicates through appropriate channels. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Computer work is frequent. Good lighting and comfortable temperature and good ventilation.
