Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA)

Overview Occupational Therapy Assistant—works in facilities such as skilled nursing centers, assisted and independent living facilities, outpatient clinics, and home‑based care. Reports to the Director of Rehab and implements occupational therapy programs and activities to help patients regain function and independence. Responsibilities Implement occupational therapy programs and activities for patients to help them recover and improve functional abilities. Follow individualized recovery plans and deliver therapy treatments as directed. Address patients as whole individuals, tailoring interventions to meet their unique needs. Collaborate with peers and coordinate referrals to ensure comprehensive patient care. Provide compassionate, patient‑first service to patients and families in a caring environment. Adapt to the evolving needs of patients and thrive in varied settings. Qualifications Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant Program that meets AOTA & ACOTE standards. Initial certification obtained from the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy. Licensed and/or eligible for licensure in the state of practice.
