Associate Field Service Technician

Position Summary This position is not eligible for immigration/work visa sponsorship. The Associate Field Service Technician is responsible for maintaining retail store technologies, computer systems, and peripherals within retail store and commercial business environments. They perform a full workload of product installation, support services, and repair on Toshiba Global Commerce Solutions and non‑TOSHIBA retail products and in store systems, retail banking and SMB marketplaces. The technician is accountable for customer satisfaction, metrics attainment, and operational activities as required for the services provided. Responsibilities include product and component exchange, on‑premises basic product and store equipment problem diagnosis, adjustment and/or repair, equipment refurbishment, installation, relocation, discontinuance, product level engineering, configuration changes, upgrades and/or modifications to products using well‑established documentation and procedures. The technician works under supervision until trained and capable of working independently. Pay Information Non‑exempt hourly role starting at $25/hr. Responsibilities Operate in assigned territory and perform basic repairs and services on products using standard maintenance packages, diagnostics and service aids; diagnose routine problems. Perform basic diagnostics and repair; may require assistance from more experienced Service Representatives on difficult product repair activities. Use established procedures for repetitive and routine work; work individually or as part of a team. Travel within assigned territory or nationally to customer locations for installations, relocation, discontinuance, product level engineering, configuration changes, upgrades and/or modifications to retail POS equipment. Communicate with customers, management, peers and team members in a timely manner about status of work, potential problems, satisfaction and to seek advice and assistance; build positive customer relationships. Manage situations and complete service events in high quality and timely manner to meet customer commitments and minimize disruptions. Plan, prioritize and schedule work to meet or exceed customer Service Level objectives; arrange all travel plans cost‑effectively and respond to schedule changes with minimal notice. Work varying shifts, including overtime and weekends as necessary. Document installation activities accurately in accordance with Toshiba standards and practices; include travel, call, mileage, timecards and expense reports. Maintain and manage trunk stock to support all customers. Perform other related duties as assigned. Environmental Conditions Drive to multiple customer locations throughout the day. Lifting up to 50 lbs. without assistance. Standing, walking, stooping, bending, squatting, reaching activities encountered frequently. Twisting activities may be required depending on job duties. Use basic hand tools (drills, screwdrivers, etc.). Regular air travel may be required. Use ladder or lift to reach devices mounted on roofs or in ceilings/walls. Areas of Expertise & Special Skills High School Diploma with 2+ years’ experience in an electronics field. Must be able to travel 100% of the time, including domestic and/or air travel; may be assigned to a specific local territory but air travel may be necessary for installations or other service delivery projects outside assigned geography. Possess basic knowledge of personal computer technology, network infrastructure, flat panel TVs & monitors, cash registers/point‑of‑sale equipment, and associated retail devices including scanners, handheld devices, kiosks, printers and other related and similar retail and SMB product technologies. Demonstrate mechanical aptitude with competency in electricity & electronics; ability to properly use test equipment, basic hand tools, electronic testing equipment and electric meters. Follow written or spoken directions and provide information clearly and concisely. Good customer service skills; ability to multitask, prioritize assignments and work independently. Good written and oral communication skills, including tact and diplomacy when facing customers. Recognize and understand the functional and operational use of IT signal and power cables as well as low‑voltage wiring systems; diagnose and repair. Self‑motivated with a strong work ethic. Display high ethics and character. Maintain a professional demeanor, dress and behavior. Problem‑solving and organizational skills. Ability to work long hours as project needs dictate in a physically demanding environment. Ability to work varying shifts, including overtime and weekends as needed.
