Mechanical Design Engineer

Location: Omaha, NE (On-site)
Industry: Manufacturing – Food Processing Equipment & Aftermarket Parts

We are looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join a growing engineering team. If you're passionate about designing custom mechanical equipment, solving engineering challenges, and taking projects from concept through production, we'd love to hear from you!

Key Responsibilities

Design custom mechanical equipment, components, and systems from concept through manufacturing, assembly, and testing.
Reverse engineer existing parts and develop replacement or improved designs.
Create detailed SolidWorks models, manufacturing drawings, and Bills of Materials (BOMs).
Collaborate with manufacturing, suppliers, sales, and engineering teams to deliver high-quality solutions.
Support prototype development, testing, troubleshooting, and continuous product improvement.
Develop technical documentation, assembly instructions, exploded views, and product manuals.
Ensure designs meet customer requirements, manufacturability standards, and food safety regulations.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience.
3+ years of mechanical design engineering experience (strong internship/co-op experience will also be considered).
Proficiency with SolidWorks .
Strong understanding of:
- Mechanical design principles
- GD&T (ASME Y14.5)
- CNC machining, sheet metal fabrication, welding, and DFM/DFA
Excellent problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
