Required Certification A valid Professional Educator License issued by the Utah State Board of Education with a Secondary or CTE License Area of Concentration with an agriculture, agriculture comprehensive or natural resource science endorsement, OR A valid Associate Educator License issued by the Utah State Board of Education with a Secondary or CTE License Area of Concentration with an agriculture, agriculture comprehensive or natural resource science endorsement, OR an equivalent license and endorsement in another state, or A bachelor's degree in a related field including natural resources, plant and soil science, agricultural biology. A passing score on the Praxis 5701 (Agriculture) of 147 or higher. Completed coursework in the competency areas found on the Utah State Board of Education endorsement requirements webpage. New teacher education program graduates who have not received their teaching license yet may upload a conferral letter from their university education program in lieu of their license. This letter must include the anticipated date of graduation and the specific areas in which the applicant will be licensed. Required Documentation In‑state and out‑of‑state applicants must upload a copy of their current state license. If approved for an Associate License, upload a copy of your highest university degree AND your AEL eligibility letter in lieu of a full teaching license. New teacher education program graduates without an official teaching license should upload a conferral letter from their university education program verifying the date of graduation and the content area(s). Job Summary Under the direction of the school principal, the classroom teacher is responsible for creating a positive learning environment where students develop skills to become critical thinkers, problem solvers, lifelong learners, and productive citizens. Develop lesson plans and instructional materials and provide individualized and small‑group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of the child. Utilize effective teaching techniques in translating lesson plans into productive student learning experiences. Utilize computers and other technological classroom support equipment in student instruction. Supervise students with indoor and outdoor responsibilities (e.g., recess duty, gymnasium activities) in all types of weather and air quality. Establish and maintain standards of student behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere through organization and appropriate discipline strategies. Evaluate students’ academic and social growth, maintain records, and prepare progress reports. Be familiar with and willing to implement Proficiency‑Based Learning in evaluating students. Communicate with parents through conferences, telephone calls, e‑mails, student planners, school website, and other appropriate means to discuss student progress. Communicate and cooperate with other professional staff regarding students’ academic and personal growth areas. Attendance, physical presence, and timeliness are essential functions. Required Training and Education A Utah State Board of Education (USBE) approved cleared criminal background check. A valid Professional Educator License for the State of Utah within the relevant “Licensure Area of Concentration” and if applicable, “Endorsement.” A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university or a passing score on Praxis 5701 (Agriculture). Passing a safety test at 100% for all equipment used in training. Working Environment Supervision of students requires both indoor and outdoor responsibilities (e.g., recess duty, gymnasium activities) in all types of weather and air quality.
