Demand in the Dallas market has grown quickly, and the team is now adding headcount to keep pace.This is a legacy, employee-first organization where technical staff routinely move up into strategic roles - many of the strongest performers on the estimating and project management side started their careers turning wrenches in the field.The RoleThe company needs a Security Estimator based in the Dallas area who can take ownership of proposals and cost estimates for electronic security installations - think access control, video surveillance, and intrusion detection, not fire alarm. This is a highly visible, in-office role that pairs technical fluency with day-to-day collaboration alongside the sales and project management teams.Day-to-Day Responsibilities- Build detailed, accurate cost estimates and proposals for electronic security projects spanning access control, video surveillance, and intrusion detection systems- Read and interpret construction drawings, technical specifications, and project scope documents to translate design intent into a buildable, priced solution- Attend job walks alongside the sales team and prospective clients throughout the Dallas-Fort Worth market to scope projects firsthand- Use CAD, Revit, and Bluebeam to mark up drawings, take off quantities, and prepare bid packages- Partner closely with project managers and field technicians to make sure estimates reflect what can realistically be installed and programmed- Price and scope work ranging from smaller single-building jobs to multi-million-dollar campus-wide security upgrades- Support proposal development for K-12 school districts, higher education institutions, and healthcare facilities- Maintain organized, professional documentation and communication throughout the bid and proposal cycleRequired Skills and Qualifications- Background as a security systems technician, lead technician, or field-level project manager who has moved into (or is ready to move into) an estimating seat- Hands-on installation and/or programming experience with access control, video surveillance (CCTV/VMS), and intrusion detection systems - candidates with fire-alarm-only backgrounds are not a fit for this seat- Working knowledge of how security systems function end to end (readers, door contacts, panels, VMS platforms) rather than deep loyalty to one specific brand or manufacturer- Comfort reading and marking up construction drawings and technical specifications- Practical experience with CAD, Revit, and Bluebeam- Solid working knowledge of Excel and Word, along with general office professionalism and communication etiquette- Ability and willingness to hold (or promptly obtain) the private security license required to work on school, hospital, and institutional campuses in Texas- Comfortable working from an office five days a week and traveling locally for job walks - this is not a hybrid or remote-friendly seatWhy This Role Stands Out- Clear, proven path for technical field talent to grow into a strategic estimating seat- Join a growing Dallas team inside a company with a long-tenured, close-knit culture- Work across a genuinely varied project mix - from smaller retrofit jobs to multi-million-dollar campus security overhauls- High autonomy and high visibility - you will be the primary estimating resource for the Dallas market
