Shipping and Receiving Clerk

Openwork is currently engaged in a search to find a Shipping and Receiving Clerk in High Point, NC. The Shipping and Receiving Clerk packages finished printed materials, verifies the completeness of shipments against shipping pick tickets, affixes shipping labels, selects shipment methods, weighs and determines shipping charges, and issues bills of lading. This role involves operating warehouse machinery, loading/unloading goods, and maintaining strict quality control standards for all outbound shipments. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Operate warehouse machinery such as pallet jacks, forklifts, weight scales, corner shear machines, and paper packing fabricators.

• Unload trucks, receive, identify, and inspect incoming goods and material by product type, count, measurement, and label.

• Obtain, sort, prepare, assemble, collate, bundle, and pack printed products and materials for shipment as directed by the supervisor.

• Apply company quality control standards to all procedures and pack-outs.

• Assist in maintaining warehouse machines and equipment in good working order following established routine maintenance procedures.

• Weigh cartons and skids, stamp or glue identifying information and shipping instructions onto packages, crates, or containers, and affix required postage.

• Record detailed shipment information including weight, shipping charges, time, date packaged, and carrier.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent in experience and training.

• One year of receiving and warehouse experience in a production-manufacturing environment.

• Extensive knowledge and proficiency in Microsoft Excel is required.

• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.

• Must be able to obtain and maintain a forklift certification.

Physical Requirements & Work Environment

• Regularly required to talk and hear; frequently required to use hands or fingers to handle, feel, or reach with hands and arms.

• Frequently required to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods.

• Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 60 pounds and push/pull up to 150 pounds.

• Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus.

• The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate.
