Job SummaryUnder the direction of the Head Pickleball Professional, the Pickleball Teaching Professional is responsible for administering and instructing all areas of the pickleball program, including all classes, levels, training, special events, tournaments. This position is located at Club Pickle & Padel, a new facility of the Park District of Highland Park and assigned outdoor court areas.Supervisory ResponsibilitiesThis position does not have supervisory responsibilities.Essential Job DutiesTeach private and group lessons as assigned in accordance with Park District policies; conduct instruction in accordance with the Club’s standardized methods and strategies.Effectively communicate and demonstrate proper techniques, such as grip, stroke production, serve, footwork and rules.Perform necessary administrative tasks, such as attendance taking, returning messages, and general correspondence with patrons and co-workers; maintain list of client names for private lessons.Discretely work through differences with fellow teaching professionals so as not to create distractions on the court or in front of clientele.Arrive in time to start lessons punctually and allow enough time to fully complete the lesson and cleanup as scheduled.Assist with summer camp programming.Assist with the planning and implementation of lesson pickleball programs, classes, levels, training, tournaments and special events.Assist managerial preparation for and facilitation of seasonal registration.Manage the proper placement of students in class levels based on skill level.Complete timesheet daily by accurately inputting privates/groups/drop-in and administrative hours.Participate and contribute to periodic staff meetings and professional development training.Recruit participants for programmingKeep administrative staff apprised of any key issues, class assignment changes, and other significant developments in a timely fashion.Make recommendations for improvements and efficiencies.Provide excellent customer service to both internal and external customers.Conduct all work in a safe manner, including using personal protective equipment and safety devices as required. Identify and report any safety hazards.Perform other duties as assigned.Education and Experience: Minimum high school diploma or equivalent with preference given to a four-year (4) degree from a recognized college or university. Certification with the International Pickleball Teaching Professional Association “Level 1” Certification or similar preferred. Minimum of 3–5-year teaching experience with a variety of ability levels of pickleball.Required Skills/Abilities:Certification with International Pickleball Teaching Professional Association (IPTPA) certification preferred.Valid IL Driver's LicenseAmerican Red Cross CPR/AED Certification or ability to obtain within three (3) months of hire.Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.Ability to teach all levels of pickleball.Ability to teach or learn padel.Ability to communicate and maintain patience in a teaching setting.Wage Range:$35.00-$45.00 per hour on-court pay rate DOQ (35 hours per week)$25.00-$30.00 per hour administrative pay rate DOQ (5 hours per week)Classification: Full-Time, Non-exemptPhysical Requirements: The physical requirements described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
