Maintenance Worker

This position is responsible for repairs and facility preventative maintenance. The core position performs a variety of maintenance duties including basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry, HVAC and grounds keeping and any related tasks as directed by the Maintenance Manager. Responsibilities and Duties Performs minor fixes, repairs, preventative maintenance and renovations. Areas of responsibility include plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting and HVAC Maintains grounds, including mowing and yard upkeep Clears snow from parking lots, entrances and walkways Conducts and documents routine inspections of premises and equipment Handles basic repairs, maintenance and renovations. Areas of responsibility include plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting and HVAC Oversees contractors when necessary Diagnoses mechanical issues and corrects them Repairs machines, equipment, and structures as necessary Picks up and delivers supplies and materials as needed Adheres to all relevant policies and procedures of the organization Performs and documents scheduled inspections of the entire facility Reports to maintenance manager regarding issues resolved, those needing attention, and those currently in progress Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent; relevant experience or knowledge, skills, and ability equivalent; Any other combination of training and experience that could likely provide the desired skills, knowledge or abilities may be considered Experience as a maintenance worker or other similar position preferred Basic working knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems Experience working with tools, including hand and electrical tools Ability to take apart machines, equipment, or devices to remove and replace defective parts Ability to check blueprints, repair manuals, or parts catalogs as necessary Ability to use common tools such as hammers, hoists, saws, drills, and wrenches Physically able to push equipment used in the maintenance department Physically able to reach, stretch, bend, and walk during daily routine, with the ability to stand for long lengths of time Previous experience working in related field preferred; training will be provided Certifications and License Valid driver’s license and appropriate liability insurance. Positions in this classification may be required to travel and work at multiple sites on a regular basis EPA Universal Technician (40 CFR 82 Subpart F (HVAC) certification preferred First Aid / CPR / AED certification completed within probationary period and maintained throughout employment The above statements are intended to describe the general work tasks expected from the individual assigned to this position.
