Staff Pharmacist - Newberry Springs, California

A 60-bed community hospital located in the desert between Los Angeles and Las Vegas is seeking a dedicated Staff Pharmacist for a 13-week contract assignment starting ASAP. This role offers day-shift hours on a 4x10 schedule, providing a balance between busy workdays and extended time off. Minimal on-call responsibilities are required due to a Remote Service that manages after-hours order processing.


Responsibilities:

• Accurately dispense medications and verify orders within the hospital setting
• Collaborate with healthcare professionals to optimize patient pharmacotherapy
• Utilize MedHost EMR and Sentri 7 Clinical Surveillance software to review patient profiles and ensure safe medication use
• Manage inventory and operate Pyxis Automated Dispensing Cabinets (ADCs)
• Provide clinical support and counseling to patients and staff as needed
• Participate minimally in on-call rotations to address urgent pharmacy needs after hours

Qualifications and Desired Experience:

• Active California pharmacist license
• Hospital pharmacy experience preferred, familiarity with clinical surveillance and ADC systems a plus
• Strong attention to detail and excellent communication skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team
• Adaptable to a desert community hospital environment

Schedule:

• Four 10-hour shifts per week (day shifts)
• Minimal on-call duties with centralized remote after-hours service support
