Sonographer (PRN) – Obstetrics & Gynecology Worker Type: PRN Job Highlights: Department: Sonography Schedule: PRN as needed Pay Range starts at $35/hour. Daily pay available. Shift Differentials for night, weekend, and additional shifts. Location: MO-SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital – St. Louis, MO Requirements: Completion of a Sonography program and ARDMS or CCI registry in Abdomen, OB/GYN, or Vascular within 12 months of hire. Job Summary: Performs diagnostic procedures on patients using ultrasound waves to examine tissue and body structure, providing quality images for interpretation. The only registration requirement for this position is as a registered sonographer appropriate for the department in which the sonographer works. Job Responsibilities and Requirements Sets up and adjusts all equipment and manually maneuvers transducers to perform exams. Implements safety standards and performs appropriate quality control procedures. Performs routine and complex studies and assists in a variety of imaging procedures. Recognizes significant structures, artifacts, pathology, and equipment limitations. Ensures equipment is properly functioning and reports potential problems or equipment malfunctions; lock/tag out equipment if appropriate. Ensures prompt submission of high‑quality images and documents to PACS (image quality, images labeled correctly, patient data/history). Assists in maintaining a clean, orderly department including procedure rooms, storage areas, dressing rooms, and other areas. Maintains compliance with regulatory agencies. Works in a constant state of alertness and safety. Performs other duties as assigned. Education Completion of a Sonography program. Experience No experience required. Physical Requirements Constant standing and walking. Frequent use of vision and depth perception for distances near (≤20 inches) and far (≥20 feet). Frequent hearing and speech for oral communication. Frequent hearing to distinguish body sounds and alarms. Frequent lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling objects weighing 0–25 lbs. Frequent lifting/moving of patients. Frequent reaching, gripping, and keyboard use/data entry. Occasional lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling objects weighing 25–50 lbs. Occasional vision to identify colors. Occasional bending, stooping, squatting, twisting, and repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements. Rare kneeling and sitting. Required Professional License and/or Certifications Basic Life Support HealthCare Provider (BLS HCP) – American Heart Association (AHA). Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) with Abdomen (AB) Specialty – ARDMS. Or Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) with Obstetrics and Gynecology (OB/GYN) Specialty – ARDMS. Or Registered Vascular Specialist (RVS) – Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI). Or Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) – ARDMS.
