Labor and Delivery Nurse

We are seeking a skilled Labor and Delivery Nurse to provide exceptional care in our Women's Services unit. The ideal candidate will be experienced in various labor and delivery procedures and capable of handling complex patient scenarios effectively.

Required Skills / Certifications / Experience:

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in a Labor and Delivery setting.
• Open to first-time travelers.
• Local candidates are welcome and may receive a holiday incentive at a regular rate.
• Proficiency in EPIC, IV starts, and the ability to circulate in the operating room.
• Experience handling a minimum of 400 births per month, including labor inductions, IUFDs, and various drips (Pitocin, magnesium, insulin).
• Ability to care for preterm infants, multiple gestations, and manage conditions such as preeclampsia and postpartum hemorrhages.
• Must be able to recover C-section patients.
• Certifications required: BCLS, AWHONN Intermediate, and NRP.

Job Details:

• Patient-to-nurse ratio of 1:2 in a unit with 21 rooms/beds.
• Contracts available for 13 weeks.
• 12-hour night shifts; 48 hours offered weekly.
• Maximum of 7 days of requested time off (RTO) accepted for Aya Auto Offer.
• Travelers are expected to float within Women's Services.
• Every other weekend shift requirement.

Patient Diagnoses:

Patients starting from 14 weeks and above are seen in triage, while those 20 weeks and above are in labor and delivery. Resuscitation is offered for patients from 22 weeks and above, with labor and delivery performed in the same suite.

Special Procedures / Unit Details:

• Labor inductions
• IUFDs
• Handling of multiple drips (Pitocin, magnesium, insulin)
• Care for preterm births and multiple gestations
• Management of preeclampsia and postpartum hemorrhage
• Circulation in OR and administration of epidurals
• Use of nitrous oxide and amnio infusions when required

Special Equipment:

• Epidural pumps
• PCAs
• Alaris pumps
• Fluid warmers
• Nitrous Oxide (not mandatory)
• Amnio Infusions (not mandatory)

Unit Systems:

Familiarity with systems such as PYXIS, EPIC, and SBAR is necessary.

Scheduling Information:

No block scheduling is guaranteed.

Orientation and Scrubs:

• EPIC training is included.
• 2 days of orientation on the unit and 2 half-days in the operating room.
• Scrubs will be provided.
