Key Responsibilities

• Provides routine and complex nursing care utilizing the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation for assigned patients in the operating room setting.
• Administers medications and treatments per appropriate protocol; monitors for side effects and effectiveness of prescribed treatments.
• Addresses complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families in accordance with scope of practice.
• Documents patient history, symptoms, medications administered, and care provided.
• Assesses learning needs and provides education to patients, family members, and/or caregivers; identifies issues and available resources.
• Makes appropriate assignments and delegates to other care providers as needed to manage the clinical situation.

Required Qualifications

• Active RN License in the state of Texas or a valid Compact RN License.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required – American Heart Association (AHA) only.
• Minimum of 1 year of experience in Operating Room or surgical nursing.

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to manage contingencies and complex clinical situations independently in a surgical environment.
