About the Position: TheCareer Developeris responsible for establishing and maintaining a network of job development and pre-employment services within the parameters of the FCRP. This role requires a thorough understanding of the expungement process, including coordinating its completion and providing information or referrals on how to expunge a criminal record or obtain a Certificate of Rehabilitation. The Career Developer will assist unemployed participants with employment preparation, resume writing, interview skills, job search, and placement and provide various resources to support participants in transitioning into long-term, sustainable employment. What You Will Do: Essential Duties: Utilize extensive knowledge of pre-employment services, transitional work opportunities, and long-term career opportunities within the community to facilitate employment opportunities for FCRP participants. Ensure all employment opportunities are reviewed and approved by the Program Director. Confirm that temporary agency ("temp jobs") employment opportunities provide participants with a weekly schedule prior to approval. Assist participants in completing any necessary paperwork related to work or educational opportunities. Verify the employment and educational status of FCRP participants. Possess a basic understanding of the criminal record expungement process, its benefits, and provide participants with relevant information on how to expunge a criminal record. Provide guidance to participants on obtaining a Certificate of Rehabilitation. Establish and maintain a robust network of job development and pre-employment services. Maintain an up-to-date roster of participant job placements. Actively collaborate with area employers to create employment opportunities for participants. Inform prospective employers of incentives such as the Work Opportunity Tax Credit (WOTC), fidelity bonding, and other benefits associated with hiring participants. Prepare and maintain a monthly roster of employers willing to hire participants and provide this roster to the California Department of Corrections & Rehabilitation (CDCR) upon request. Correspond with the Agent of Record (AOR) prior to placement to ensure there are no restrictions regarding job location or types. Mentor participants on how to appropriately disclose past convictions and/or parole status to potential employers. Provide counseling and employability services to participants, assisting them in analyzing and evaluating their employment history, assets, and aptitudes. Offer information on occupational opportunities, job requirements, training, and rehabilitation resources. Assist participants in formulating plans to achieve their occupational goals. Refer participants to suitable employers, training programs, educational facilities, or other community agencies and organizations as necessary. Assist participants in determining their employment, training, and Career Technical Education (CTE) needs, and coordinate referrals with the Program Director and other staff. Provide employment services, including resume writing, mock interviews, time management, interpersonal skills in the workplace, and following instructions. Prepare participants for the workforce. Assist participants in assembling the necessary documents to legally work in California and in creating their initial resume. Provide ongoing support to participants once they have been placed in employment. Obtain verification of participant employment. Support participants in addressing any issues that may arise post-employment. Assist participants who lose their job in securing new employment. Make appropriate referrals to outside agencies as needed. Maintain detailed progress notes in participant files. Ensure project compliance with Amity policies and procedures, as well as with relevant federal and state regulations and contract obligations. Attend and participate in Amity community-building functions. Perform additional duties as assigned. What You Will Bring: Education and Experience: Required:Four (4) degree in Social Sciences or related fields,ORa High school diploma or equivalentAND; two (2) years of experience as a job developer or similar position, Knowledge of the criminal record expungement process, procedures, and benefits Preferred: N/A Certifications or Licenses: Required:Within six (6) weeks of hire, obtain First Aid and CPR certificationANDpass a physical examination and tuberculosis test from a health professional. Preferred:N/A Skills/Abilities: Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to foster teamwork and cohesiveness. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Extensive knowledge of office management systems and procedures. Ability to maintain confidential information. Ability to operate general office equipment. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software. ADA Information: Physical Requirements: Faculty must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Frequently required to sit and/or stand for extended periods of time. Frequently sitting and typing for extended periods of time. Occasionally required to reach, walk, climb, pull, push, grasp, stretch, stoop. Frequently required talk, hear, see, and use repetitive motions. Frequently able to communicate verbally and in written form. Mental Demands: Ability to thrive in an environment that requires one to adapt to changing circumstances. Ability to professionally work under pressure with difficult or temperamental students & faculty. Ability to handle mental and emotional stress related to the position. Work Conditions: Generally, in an indoor office setting. Environmental Conditions: The noise level in the work environment is moderate but can be loud. The temperature in the work environment is usually moderate to cool but can be cold or hot. Travel: May travel locally as needed.
