Cocktail Server

Job Responsibilities

Maintain product knowledge to inform guests of daily specials, answer questions about menu items, and make recommendations upon request

Adhere to state liquor laws and regulations; verify minimum age requirements for consumption of alcoholic beverages

Explain how various menu items are prepared, describing ingredients and cooking methods

Describe and recommend wine and specialty beverages to guests

Take food and beverage orders, enter them into the POS system, and send them to the kitchen

Serve food and beverages to guests, preparing and garnishing dishes as required

See to each guest's special needs, including any allergies or dietary restrictions

Prepare and maintain table setting for courses, including setting up items such as linens, silverware, and glassware

Assist with running food and beverages, clearing tables, and escorting guests as needed

Ensure immediate response is given to guest comments and concerns; inform immediate supervisor and apply corrective measures when necessary

Manage order times and inform guests and management of any delays in service

Maintain revenue by preparing checks that itemize total costs + sales taxes and collect accurate payments from guests

Remove dishes and glassware from tables or counters, and take them to the kitchen for cleaning

Clean tables or counters after guests have finished dining as needed

Stock service areas with dining supplies such as plates, utensils, glassware, and linens

Qualifications

State-issued food handling + beverage certifications as required

6+ months of related experience in the hospitality industry

Ability to speak, read, write, and understand the primary language(s) of the workplace

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals

Ability to speak effectively before guests and groups of co-workers

Ability to navigate and operate computer and Point of Sale (POS) systems

Ability to apply concepts of math including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division
