Business Development Director

Carefree Living is looking for a motivated and relationship-focused Director of Business Development to help grow our Northern Minnesota communities in Aurora, Babbitt, Buhl, Cook, Ely, Silver Bay, and Virginia .

This position is ideal for someone who enjoys being out in the community, connecting with healthcare professionals, developing new referral relationships, and helping families navigate senior living options. You will play an important role in increasing awareness of our communities and creating opportunities for seniors and their families to discover the services and support we provide.

Position: Full-Time
Schedule: Monday-Friday, with flexibility based on business and community needs
Territory: Northern Minnesota, including the Iron Range and Silver Bay area
Travel: Regular travel between assigned communities and throughout the service area is required

The Opportunity

As our Director of Business Development, you will serve as a key connection between Carefree Living and the healthcare and senior care professionals in our communities. Your focus will be on developing strong referral partnerships, identifying opportunities for growth, and helping prospective residents and their families feel confident throughout the decision-making process.

You will work closely with Executive Directors, clinical leadership, and other members of the Carefree Living team to support census growth and create a positive experience from the first referral through admission.

What You'll Be Responsible For

• Build and strengthen relationships with hospitals, clinics, physicians, county case managers, home health agencies, hospice organizations, and other healthcare and community partners
• Develop new referral opportunities while maintaining consistent communication with existing referral sources
• Create and carry out strategies designed to increase referrals, tours, and admissions across the assigned communities
• Spend time in the community through face-to-face meetings, sales calls, networking opportunities, presentations, and outreach events
• Meet with prospective residents and families, learn about their needs, and help connect them with the appropriate Carefree Living services
• Conduct tours and maintain consistent follow-up with prospective residents and referral partners
• Maintain an organized pipeline of prospective business and referral opportunities
• Use a consultative and structured sales approach to understand customer needs and identify appropriate solutions
• Document sales activity, referrals, follow-up, and customer interactions using the company's CRM system
• Represent Carefree Living at community events, senior-focused events, educational programs, open houses, and other networking opportunities
• Monitor local market activity and identify new opportunities to increase awareness and occupancy
• Partner with facility leadership and clinical teams to help ensure referrals and admissions move smoothly through the process
• Maintain a strong understanding of Carefree Living's services and communicate our value to residents, families, and referral partners

What We're Looking For

The right person will be comfortable meeting new people, building professional relationships, and representing an organization within the community. You should be organized, self-directed, and motivated by the opportunity to make a measurable difference.

Preferred qualifications include:

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Healthcare, or a related field
• Two or more years of experience in healthcare sales, senior living, marketing, insurance, pharmaceutical sales, or a related field
• Demonstrated ability to develop professional relationships and generate new business or referral opportunities
• Strong communication and presentation skills
• Excellent follow-through and relationship management abilities
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Ability to manage multiple communities, priorities, and relationships independently
• Experience using Microsoft Office and CRM systems
• Valid driver's license and dependable transportation
• Ability and willingness to travel regularly throughout the assigned territory
