Opportunity at a Glance
The Title IX and Title VI Investigator reports to the Director of Office of Nondiscrimination and Access. The Investigator will conduct prompt, thorough, and impartial investigations based on Covista’s Non-Discrimination Policy, its institutions' Title IX and Sex-Based Misconduct Response & Prevention Policies, and other policies concerning discrimination and harassment. The Investigator will design and present training for students and colleagues. This position will work closely with Covista Legal, Human Resources, Marketing, Regulatory Affairs, and institutional leaders to ensure successful and effective program development and implementation.
- Conduct prompt, equitable, and impartial investigations into complaints including identifying and interviewing parties and identifying, gathering and assessing information relevant to the investigation; apply relevant policies and make findings of fact in individual cases; maintain accurate and thorough records and notes of the investigatory process.
- Collaborate and consult with the Title IX Coordinator regularly to monitor and manage complaints of sexual misconduct, sexual harassment, gender-related violence including stalking and intimate partner violence, and protected class discrimination and harassment and related retaliation to ensure an efficient and effective response to reports and complaints.
- Identify institution policies and/or Student Conduct Code provisions relevant to a complaint.
- In collaboration with the Deputy Title IX and Sex-Based misconduct Coordinators, identify and coordinate appropriate interim measures and accommodations with departments throughout the institutions.
- Exercise judgment regarding the resolution of complaints including informal resolution and formal investigation.
- Actively foster and maintain a climate that is supportive of students and respectful of difference.
- Create and facilitate trainings/presentations to students, student groups, staff, and faculty regarding the institutions’ Title IX and Sex-Based Misconduct Response and Prevention Policies, non-discrimination policies, best practices related to the investigation process, and other related presentations and trainings as requested and necessary.
Assist with training hearing panels on the equitable and impartial adjudication and resolution of complaints under applicable institutional policies.

Provide resource referrals to students, faculty, and staff involved in investigations.

Cultivate relationships with campus stakeholders (e.g., faculty, students, and staff).

Serve as Chairperson for Situational Intervention Teams, which provide support to institutions when community members are at risk of harm at educational institutions.

Develop and maintain relationships and clear lines of communication with campus and community partners. Collaborate with on and off-campus resources including law enforcement -and victim services in resolving complaints and work with the Title IX Coordinator to ensure that the institutions' processes, responses, and policies are consistent with federal, state, and local laws and regulations related to compliance with non-discrimination laws.

Continuously identify and integrate best practices in the Title IX and Title VI investigation areas into a consistent knowledge base and practices. Stay apprised of current developments in the field of investigations by participating in conferences, workshops, etc.

Build relationships with colleagues at peer institutions; review current literature and research; participate in local, regional, and/or national professional associations and organizations.

Maintain knowledge of federal and state laws and regulations, and trends within higher education related to sexual misconduct, harassment, and other discriminatory practices.

Serve on appropriate committees as assigned.

Qualifications
- Master's Degree required or other graduate degree required.
- A minimum of 5 years of broad higher education compliance experience, preferably in Title IX, ADA/Title 504 and/or student affairs roles.
- Superior leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Experience in conducting investigations; self-starter, solution-finder, and forward-thinker.
- Ability to interact with all levels of management; possess superior communication skills (written and oral), professionalism, diplomacy, and "active listening" skills.
- Highly motivated with a positive outlook.
- Other required skills include organizing resources and establishing priorities; ability to gather and analyze statistical data and generate reports; use of personal computers and related software applications; ability to foster a cooperative work environment.
Additional Information
In support of the pay transparency laws enacted across the country, the expected salary range for this position is between $70696.34 and $127957.05. Actual pay will be adjusted based on job-related factors permitted by law, such as experience and training; geographic location; licensure and certifications; market factors; departmental budgets; and responsibility.
