For more information about Eos (NASDAQ: EOSE), visit eose.com.About the Role:The Power & Control Electrical Engineer will contribute to the project engineering activities related to the deployment of our current and the next generation of our Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) and its auxiliary power electronic systems, including its system schematics for our projects.Accountable For:Supporting the project engineering efforts developing and designing battery energy storage systems (BESS) and their power electronics and controls, as well as maintaining existing projects and support the creation of automated test equipment for project deployments.ResponsibilitiesSupport related project engineering activities during the engineering design, procurement, construction, and commissioning phases for a range of Battery Energy Storage projects, from; DC only BESS to full turnkey installations (Civil, AC/DC Electrical).Validate and troubleshoot various power electronic hardware and software such as, battery pack systems, power conversion (converter & inverter), pre-charger, BMS, battery disconnect unit and other auxiliary power systems.Lead development of specifications, drawings and coordination studies for contracted projects.Lead continuous improvement of standard processes, procedures, documentation, and tools to effectively deliver a wide range of project solutions.Ensure that all project engineering deliverables are on schedule / on budget and communicate project status to internal and external audiences via standardized project controls systems.Become the Project Engineering BESS SME and internal engineering interface. Work with other engineers pre and post contract award to optimize customer BESS solutions, use case reviews and commercial proposal strategies and processes.Maintain project documentation and assist in creating Operation ManualsProvide support to Field Service Technicians when troubleshooting in field commissioning and service operations.Establishes technical standards for reviews, documentation, and designs such as UL, UN, IEC, ISO, ECE and other engineering standards.Collaborates with Product Engineering to define, refine and improve BESS systems.Other duties, responsibilities and activities may change or be assigned at any time with or without notice, in the spirit of an agile design group within an active technology company.Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesAbility to work independently and on-site and understand how components fit into a larger systemWorking knowledge of embedded control systems and their applicationsGeneral knowledge of CAD and the ability to interpret mechanical and electrical engineering drawings.Strong troubleshooting skills for diagnosis and design improvementFamiliarity with design for ground fault and EMC and availability to trace down GFI and EMI issuesAwareness of safety certification process to standards such as ULCompetent skills with communications protocols such as TCP/IP, CAN, i²C and SPI; use of ModbusCapability to select and integrate off-the-shelf component and equipmentStrong cross-discipline system skillsUnderstanding of hardware and physical system being controlled is requiredComfort and experience with the hazard and safety protocols of high voltage equipment and other aspects of working with large-scale battery systemsAbility to self-direct to a goal and achieve independent successA team-player attitude and strong written/verbal communication skills are a mustEducation and ExperienceBS in Electrical Engineering (MS degree preferred) or related field, along with PE certification or equivalent (preferred)Minimum of 5+ years of experience in all aspects of engineering management.Hardware and system design and troubleshooting.Minimum five years’ experience designed electronics and developing automated controlsEmbedded programming, communication interfaces; I²C, RS-485, CAN bus communication, Modbus TCP, remote IO, or flex IO systems other debugging tools.Linux, embedded systemsHigh voltage electrical systemsTravelOvernight/North America: Less than 10%Working ConditionsOffice Environment - Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time and occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc. Required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading.
