Project Accountant 2

HDR

The Project Accountant 2 position is responsible for all facets of project and contract financial management, including ensuring accurate contract documentation and timely project financial support throughout each phase of the contract life cycle. Primary Responsibilities Project Initiation Process and prepare Project Initiation Package per contract negotiations and receipt of the standardized budget package from the PM. Communicate project number and relevant financial data to the PM, Quality, and Marketing staff. Confirm receipt of project documentation from the PM, including: Signed Contract Notice to proceed Proposal Budget Information Proposal Contract Review (PCR) Form Internal Workshare Agreements/Subconsultant Agreements Invoicing Instructions/Progress Report formats (if necessary) Support the PM, as needed, with getting subconsultant agreements/POs executed. Participate in 0% Project Review. Attend kickoff and team meetings as necessary. Project Execution & Monitoring Review weekend and month-end cost sheets as necessary. Review job costs for labor transfers and process as necessary. Review and process subconsultant invoices with the PM’s approval. Ensure timely release of subconsultant invoices for payment. Perform monthly billing function for all assigned projects. Post invoices within company deadlines, mailing within 24 hours of invoice release. Analyze and notify the PM of outstanding A-R issues. Collaborate with the PM to resolve A-R issues and document comments in EBS. Provide necessary data for the PM, Area Manager, and others regarding project financial status, including fee/budget, staffing, and accounts receivable. Manage fee and budget updates as a result of work/scope changes and contract amendments. Update the “Pipeline” opportunity forecast as necessary for expected contract amendments. Assist the PM as needed with updating staffing resources forecasts. Request and assist the PM in performing earned value calculations to monitor project progress, which may include: Request cost-to-complete from the PM. Request updated resource forecast information based on revised staffing projections. Identify and track out-of-scope items through fee/budget revisions. Participate in on‑demand project reviews to discuss deliverables and status. Participate in project reviews during the life cycle of the project. Project Completion Confirm final billing is complete and all costs have been recorded to the project. Coordinate project closeout activities with the PM. Additional Duties / Cross‑Functional Accounting Support Assist the Area Accounting Lead with general accounting functions, as needed. Assist the Area Manager, Area Accounting Lead and Assistant Regional/Regional Accounting Director with project management training initiatives, information system training and process/procedure improvements. Respond to project‑financial requests from the Area Manager and Assistant Regional/Regional Accounting Director. Assist PMs, if needed, with entering PPCs and maintaining quality schedules. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Accounting. Positive leader who is a team player that takes initiative to provide solutions. Highly energetic, detail‑oriented individual with strong organizational skills. Local candidates preferred. Project accounting experience highly desired. Proficiency with MS Office products including Excel, Word and Outlook. Oracle EBS/Hyperion experience a plus. A/E/C experience also highly desired. Required Qualifications Associate degree in a closely related field or combination of education and relevant experience. Minimum of 5 years of experience; an advanced degree may offset years of experience. Familiar with earned value management. Excellent verbal and written communication skills including grammar, punctuation, proofreading, spelling and telephone skills. Flexibility and ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and collaborate with various managers in a fast‑paced environment. Self‑motivated, well‑organized and detail‑oriented. Ability to handle confidential information. Proficiency with MS Office including Word and Outlook. Attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee‑owned culture is a must. The expected compensation range for this position depends upon skills, experience, education and geographical location. Colorado: $68,222.00 - $97,460.00.
