Compensation Overview The annual base salary range is a nationwide market range for this role. The actual salary is determined by factors including scope, complexity, location, candidate skills and experience, and other conditions of employment. Employees are eligible for performance-based incentive awards as part of our comprehensive compensation and benefits program. Salary Range: $85,600.00 - $141,200.00 Target Openings: 1 What Is the Opportunity? Travelers offers the strength of a national legal organization with a local focus. You will be positioned as a strong business partner and trusted advisor delivering value through local expertise and outstanding client service. We handle litigation arising from claims against policyholders or the company, taking cases from inception through trial and appeal. As an Associate Counsel, you will manage a caseload of lower complexity matters with mentorship from senior lawyers, developing your legal expertise and litigation skills to deliver optimal results for Travelers’ insured customers. What Will You Do? Handle a caseload of lower complexity matters with quality, proactive case management. Acquire and develop knowledge to apply effective litigation and negotiation skills. Conduct legal research and demonstrate persuasive legal writing and presentation skills. Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery and other case documents under supervision. Attend court events, depositions, and other appearances with or under supervision. Provide case analysis and recommendations to insured clients and claim partners on file handling strategy. Build and maintain strong internal and external client and business partner relationships. Fully and effectively utilize available technology, case management systems and automation. Travel as required to meet business needs. Perform other duties as assigned. What Will Our Ideal Candidate Have? 1-3 years of litigation experience as a practicing attorney. Demonstrates persuasive legal writing and oral advocacy skills. Proficiency in legal research tools and technology. Ability to foster collaborative relationships with colleagues, customers, and business partners to deliver exceptional service. Strong communication skills, sense of urgency, and responsiveness. Sound decision making and effective negotiation skills. Flexible and agile mindset with willingness to take on new challenges as needs evolve. Must Have Juris Doctorate or equivalent international law degree; graduate of an accredited law school. Active license in good standing to practice law in the state(s) of representation. Regular attendance at case-related events (e.g. trials, depositions, site visits) with ability to transport to those events. Valid driver’s license required depending on location.
