As part of our administrative team, you’ll play a critical role in supporting our mission by ensuring accurate and timely billing processes. What You’ll Do Verify patient insurance eligibility and benefits. Submit medical claims accurately and in a timely manner. Review and correct claim rejections and denials. Follow up with insurance companies regarding unpaid or denied claims. Post insurance payments, patient payments, and adjustments. Review patient balances and assist with billing questions. Process prior authorizations when needed. Work accounts receivable and follow up on outstanding claims. Communicate with patients regarding billing, balances, and payment options. Maintain accurate billing records in the electronic medical record system. Assist with Medicaid, Medicare, Medicare Advantage, commercial insurance, and self-pay accounts. Follow HIPAA, clinic policies, and billing compliance guidelines at all times. What We’re Looking For To succeed in this role, you will need the following qualifications: Job Requirements for Medical Billing Position Previous medical billing experience is required. Experience in primary care billing is preferred. Familiarity with Athena or other electronic medical record (EMR) systems is preferred. Knowledge of insurance verification, CPT codes, ICD-10 codes, claim submission, denials, and payment posting is essential. Experience with Medicaid, Medicare, and commercial insurance is preferred. Strong computer skills, as well as excellent communication and customer service skills, are necessary. Candidates must be organized, dependable, detail-oriented, and professional. Patient confidentiality must be maintained at all times. Additional Qualifications: A minimum of 3 years of experience in medical billing or a related field. Strong knowledge of medical billing procedures, coding, insurance verification, claims management, denial resolutions, and processes related to Athena, Medicaid/Medicare, and commercial insurance. Exceptional attention to detail and strong organizational skills are required. Excellent communication skills for interacting with patients, insurance companies, and team members. Proficiency in medical billing software and standard office applications is necessary. Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and experience with electronic medical records (EMR) is important.
