Job Title: School-Based Pediatric Speech‑Language Pathologist Position Overview As a School-Based Pediatric Speech‑Language Pathologist, you will provide diagnostic and therapeutic services to children with communication disorders within a school setting. You will collaborate with educators, administrators, and families to assess, treat, and support students with speech, language, and communication challenges, enhancing their academic success and social interaction skills. Key Responsibilities Assessment and Evaluation Conduct comprehensive assessments evaluating students' speech and language abilities, including receptive and expressive language skills, articulation, fluency, and pragmatic language skills. Administer standardized tests, conduct informal observations, and collect relevant information from teachers and parents to determine students' strengths and areas of need. Individualized Treatment Planning Develop individualized education plans (IEPs) with the IEP team, setting measurable goals and objectives tailored to each student's communication goals and educational needs. Design and implement evidence‑based intervention strategies and therapy activities to address disorders, promote functional communication, and support academic achievement. Therapy and Intervention Provide direct therapy services to students individually, in small groups, or in classroom-based settings, targeting specific goals outlined in the IEP. Utilize a variety of therapeutic techniques and resources (articulation drills, language games, augmentative and alternative communication devices, social skills training) to support communication development. Collaboration and Consultation Collaborate with teachers, school staff, and other IEP team members to integrate speech and language goals into educational programming and classroom activities. Provide consultation and training to school personnel on strategies for supporting students with communication disorders, including accommodations, modifications, and effective communication strategies. Progress Monitoring and Documentation Monitor student progress toward IEP goals through ongoing assessment, data collection, and progress monitoring. Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of therapy sessions, progress notes, and communications with team members, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and school policies. Qualifications Master's degree in Speech‑Language Pathology from an accredited program. State licensure or certification in Speech‑Language Pathology, with additional certification or specialization in pediatric speech therapy preferred. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, enabling collaboration with students, families, educators, and professionals. Proficiency in speech and language assessments, individualized treatment planning, and evidence‑based intervention. Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying current with best practices in pediatric speech therapy. Working Conditions Full‑time or part‑time position based on school district needs, typically following the school calendar. Requires mobility within the school environment (classrooms, hallways, therapy spaces).
