Job Description
Job Description
Make a meaningful impact supporting students across an entire county as an on-site Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing. This contract position involves working directly with approximately 30 students in various schools, ensuring they have the resources and tailored instruction they need to thrive academically and socially. Instead of being based at just one campus, you'll have the unique opportunity to build relationships and promote inclusion across multiple learning environments.
Your role will involve collaborating with educational staff and families, adapting teaching methods to individual student needs, and supporting learners who use various communication tools and assistive technologies, including cochlear implants.
Qualifications and Experience Sought:
- Valid teaching credentials in Deaf/Hard of Hearing education
- Experience designing and modifying curriculum for DHH students
- Familiarity with a range of communication strategies (ASL, oral/auditory approaches, Total Communication)
- Ability to support and instruct students utilizing cochlear implants
- Strong organizational and time management skills; able to manage a diverse caseload
- Commitment to on-site service across multiple school locations within the county
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction and support services to DHH students on-site
- Assess student progress and adapt techniques accordingly
- Liaise with faculty, families, and service providers to ensure student success
- Travel between school sites as needed, supporting a caseload of around 30 students
- Develop Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and monitor outcomes
This position offers a consistent, full-time schedule of 35 hours weekly with the chance to influence positive outcomes for students at several educational sites. If you are passionate about fostering accessible learning and skilled at bridging gaps for DHH students, apply today to take the next step in your educational career. Your expertise can make a profound difference throughout the county!
Compensation for this position ranges from $34.00 to $55.00. Eligible candidates may also receive healthcare benefits, housing, and meals/incidentals. Full details of our healthcare benefits plan can be found here. This posting is open for 60 days after the posting date.
