Head of Engineering

About the Role

We are looking for a Head of Engineering to build and lead MeeBoss’s engineering and algorithm capabilities as we continue to grow. You will lead both Engineering and Algorithm teams, help establish the technical foundation for our products, and work closely with Product, Design, Data, and business teams to turn ideas into scalable solutions.

Responsibilities

• Build & Lead the Technical Team
• Build, lead, and develop our Engineering and Algorithm teams as the company scales.
• Recruit strong engineers and technical talent and help shape the team structure from the ground up.
• Set clear priorities, ownership, and expectations across technical teams.
• Mentor engineers and help develop future technical leaders.
• Create an engineering culture that values ownership, speed, quality, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
• Identify the skills, resources, and capabilities the team needs at different stages of growth.
• Lead Algorithm & AI Capabilities
• Lead the Algorithm team and help set priorities for MeeBoss’s matching, recommendation, ranking, search, and personalization capabilities.
• Work with the team to continuously improve how candidates and opportunities are understood, matched, ranked, and surfaced.
• Ensure algorithm development is closely connected to product experience, user behavior, and business outcomes.
• Guide the integration of algorithm and AI capabilities into production systems.
• Explore opportunities to apply LLMs and other emerging AI technologies where they can create meaningful product value.
• Establish effective collaboration between Algorithm, Engineering, Product, and Data.
• Drive Cross-Functional Execution
• Work closely with Product, Design, Data, Operations, and business teams to turn product ideas and business needs into technical solutions.
• Coordinate technical initiatives that involve multiple teams and stakeholders.
• Clarify technical requirements, ownership, priorities, and dependencies.
• Help teams make practical tradeoffs when priorities, resources, or requirements change.
• Identify issues early, bring the right people together, and drive them toward resolution.
• Bring technical perspective into product planning and business discussions.
• Build for a Startup Environment
• Help establish engineering processes, development practices, and operating rhythms as the organization grows.
• Build systems and processes that are effective without creating unnecessary complexity.
• Move comfortably between strategic priorities and day-to-day execution.
• Take ownership of ambiguous technical problems and create structure where processes do not yet exist.
• Continuously improve how Engineering, Algorithm, and Product teams work together.

Qualifications

• 8–10+ years of software engineering experience, with a strong background in backend engineering/algorithm.
• Proven experience leading and managing engineering or technical teams.
• Experience building products, systems, or technical capabilities from 0→1.
• Strong understanding of backend systems, APIs, databases, system architecture, cloud infrastructure, and scalable application development.
• Demonstrated ability to recruit, mentor, and develop strong technical talent.
• Experience working closely with Product and other cross-functional teams to deliver technology products.
• Ability to manage multiple technical priorities, dependencies, and stakeholders in a fast-moving environment.
• Strong technical judgment and practical problem-solving skills.
• Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to create alignment across technical and non-technical teams.
• Experience operating in a startup or high-growth environment with evolving priorities and ambiguity.
• High ownership, adaptability, and a strong bias toward execution.

Preferred Skills

• Experience leading or working closely with Algorithm, Machine Learning, or AI teams.
• Strong understanding of recommendation, ranking, search, matching, or personalization systems.
• Experience building or scaling ML/AI-powered products.
• Experience with LLMs, NLP, embeddings, or other modern AI technologies.
• Experience with marketplace or two-sided platform products.
• Experience building consumer-facing products from 0→1.
• Experience in recruiting, HR tech, search, social, advertising, e-commerce, or other matching-intensive products.
• Previous experience as a Head of Engineering, Director of Engineering, Engineering Manager, or similar technical leadership role.

What Success Looks Like: A strong Engineering and Algorithm organization is built as MeeBoss scales. New products and technical capabilities move effectively from 0→1 and into production. Backend systems and engineering foundations evolve to support continued product and user growth. Matching, recommendation, and AI capabilities become stronger and are effectively integrated into the product. Engineering, Algorithm, Product, and other teams work together with clear ownership and priorities. Technical problems and cross-functional dependencies are identified early and resolved efficiently. The team maintains strong execution while continuously improving technical quality and capability.
