Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Neuro ICU position at a Magnet-designated, Level I Trauma teaching hospital, requiring a minimum of 2 years of neuro ICU experience and active MO or compact RN license.

Details

• Work in the Neuro ICU of a 1,266-bed short-term acute care Magnet and Level I Trauma teaching hospital
• Patient population includes ischemic strokes (post-thrombectomy, post-tPA), hemorrhagic strokes, subdural/epidural hematomas, neuromuscular and seizure disorders, CNS infections, and neurotrauma (GSW, MVC, spinal cord injuries)
• Patient ratio is 1:2
• Specialized procedures include vasoactive medication management, central line and arterial line management, ICP monitoring, CRRT, hypothermia/hyperthermia management, and spinal precautions
• Specialized equipment includes EVDs and bolts
• Charting is done in Epic; experience required
• Night shift, 4x12-hour shifts (19:00–07:30)
• Candidates may sign for 36 or 48 hours per week
• Every other weekend required
• No on-call requirements
• Floating within scope required to meet facility needs
• Block scheduling is not available

Requirements

• Active MO state RN license required at time of consideration; compact license accepted
• Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
• Preferred certifications and training: TNCC, BSN, and 10 hours of stroke education
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience, with 2 years specifically in a neuro setting required
• Must pass a Relias EKG exam; interpretation and management of dysrhythmias required
• Must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to be eligible
• Epic EMR experience required

Additional Information

• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• RTO is limited to no more than 7 days per 13-week contract; no RTO is permitted during the first week of orientation
• Travelers may remain at this health system for up to 18 months, after which a 3-month break in service is required
• Former permanent employees of this health system must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
• 10 hours of stroke education will be completed during orientation; NIHSS certification (taken within the year) may satisfy up to 3 hours, and a new or renewal ACLS (taken within the year) may satisfy additional hours
• Navy blue scrubs required
• Parking passes are available at nearby lots and garages for a monthly fee, with no parking charge for straight night shift workers
