Bank Controller

Seeking an experienced financial institution Controller-level resource to support / oversee accounting operations, regulatory compliance, and process optimization. The Controller will ensure accurate financial reporting, maintain strong internal controls, and drive automation initiatives to enhance operational efficiency. Requires 5 days onsite in San Diego, CA. Pay Range: $75/hr-$90/hr What You Will Work On Execute and monitor accounting operations, ensuring compliance with GAAP. Produce complete and accurate financial reports and maintain an adequate system of accounting records. Assist in executing the month and quarter-end close processes and review/release specified manual journal entries. Review and approve analytical reviews and account reconciliations (including aggregation of 40 bank accounts). Prepare or review consolidated statement of cash flows. Leverage SmartView to improve operating efficiencies. Maintain and update documented accounting policies, procedures, and process documents. Support timely and accurate completion of Call Report, Y9C , and other regulatory inquiries (OCC, Fed, FRB). Prepare support for independent public accounting auditors and internal auditors. Manage team of up to 7 resources (some located internationally). Provide mentorship and guidance to more junior team members. Assist with special projects as directed by accounting senior management. What You Will Bring Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA strongly preferred). 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership roles in mid-sized banks (publicly traded experience preferred). Strong knowledge of GAAP, banking regulations, and regulatory reporting (Call Report, Y9C). Experience with Oracle . Advanced Excel skills; experience with SmartView preferred. Proven ability to lead process improvement and automation initiatives.
