Certifications:
- American Heart Association Basic Life Support for the Healthcare Provider (BLS) or an approved equivalent is required.
- American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers certification or Cardiovascular Credentialing International certification in cardiac ultrasound is required.
- Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer or Registered Cardiac Sonographer certification must be obtained within 12 months of start.


Must-Have:
- Experience performing Transthoracic echocardiograms.
- Proficiency in routine and emergency echocardiograms including 2-dimensional, 3-dimensional, Doppler, and Transesophageal echocardiograms.
- Ability to analyze patient medical records and obtain history of symptoms for diagnostic procedures.


Description:
The Echocardiographer is responsible for performing Transthoracic echocardiograms.
They assist with Transesophageal Echocardiograms and, under the direction of a trained echocardiographer, perform exercise and Dobutamine Stress Echocardiograms.
The individual demonstrates increasing competency in delivering care to a primarily adult population.
Responsibilities include operating necessary equipment and obtaining optimal images.
The Echocardiographer recognizes basic cardiac pathology.
They prepare preliminary reports for review and interpretation by cardiologists, including the comparison of previous studies.
The position involves maintaining a clean and orderly patient care environment.
The Echocardiographer participates in quality improvement activities.
They evaluate procedure results for technical quality and accuracy.
The individual maintains appropriate logs, files, and records.
They prepare and instruct patients pre- and post-procedure.
The Echocardiographer utilizes ultrasound contrast according to guidelines, understanding potential side effects.
Other duties may be assigned as necessary.
