The Pavilion at Williamsburg Place in Williamsburg, Virginia is seeking a Registered Nurse for the night shift. The RN will provide nursing care to patients, supervise care treatment and services of patient care provided by LPNs, CNAs and other staff on assigned unit and shift. The RN will develop, implement, and evaluate an individual plan of care for each patient, assess and re-assess patients, and communicate appropriate information with the interdisciplinary team.

Essential functions include providing and coordinating care by assessing physical and behavioral health needs of patient, developing and implementing nursing care plans, maintaining medical records and educating patients and their families about various physical and behavioral health conditions while ensuring patient safety at all times. The RN will also assess patient's status on an ongoing basis and communicate findings to providers timely, ensure nursing treatment plans are specific to assessed needs, obtain provider's orders accurately and document appropriately, administer medications per ordered utilizing at least two patient identifiers, notify providers of significant changes in status, assess and document effects of PRN medications, maintain accountability of administration, recording, control and security of medications, complete admission and discharge processes efficiently and accurately, confer regularly with treatment team regarding patient care, provide education/explanation to patients, families, and co-workers regarding medication usage/maintenance, common side effects, patient's rights, as well as other topics necessary for optimal patient care, monitor patient acuity, census, staffing needs, and escalate coverage needs to supervisor/Charge RN, ensure thorough, accurate documentation is completed for all patients on each shift, and communicate thorough hand-off reports to oncoming staff and supervisors.

Education/experience/skill requirements include graduation from an approved/accredited school of nursing, one or more years' nursing experience within clinical area of service provided by facility preferred, experience in behavioral health/psychiatric/addiction recovery environment preferred, knowledge of and experience with psychotropic medications and medication administration procedures, and ability to apply nursing standards and practice within an acute psychiatric setting.

Licenses/designations/certifications include valid current RN license from the state or from a compact state, where applicable, certified in Psychiatric Nursing preferred, CPR and de-escalation and restraint certification required (training available upon hire and offered by facility), and first aid may be required based on state or facility requirements.
