About The Role Vancord is actively seeking a motivated and experienced Network Engineer to join our Service Desk team. This role is ideal for a professional with a strong background in enterprise networking, seeking to grow their technical expertise within a dynamic and collaborative environment. The Network Engineer will be responsible for supporting and maintaining complex network infrastructures, troubleshooting technical issues, and implementing best practices to optimize network performance and security. Qualifications The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of five years of experience in enterprise IT environments, demonstrating expertise in network design, implementation, and troubleshooting. Relevant certifications such as advanced or professional-level LAN/WAN/WLAN/Cloud certifications are required. Candidates should have extensive experience working with enterprise-class switches and routers, along with proficiency in protocols such as EIGRP, BGP, OSPF, spanning tree, multicast routing, QOS, MPLS, and security protocols. Strong knowledge of security best practices, including firewall and perimeter security measures like VPN technologies, is essential. Familiarity with network monitoring tools such as Cisco Works and NetQOS, as well as MPLS technologies including QOS, MPLS VPN, WLAN, and Voice/Network convergence, is highly desirable. Candidates should also demonstrate excellent communication skills, problem-solving abilities, and the capacity to manage multiple projects efficiently. Responsibilities The Network Engineer will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining enterprise network solutions to ensure optimal performance and security. Key responsibilities include configuring and managing enterprise-grade switches and routers, deploying and supporting VPN and firewall security measures, and monitoring network health using industry-standard tools. The role involves analyzing network traffic and performance, troubleshooting complex technical issues, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to develop scalable LAN/WAN architectures. Additionally, the engineer will assist in testing activities, contribute to security reports, and support the full lifecycle of security engagements from scoping to delivery. Developing and implementing network optimization strategies, including QOS and traffic engineering techniques, will be a core part of the role. The candidate will also be expected to stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies to recommend improvements and innovative solutions.
