Construction Manager

Job Description AECOM is currently seeking a Manager of Construction for multiple projects in Fairfield, County Connecticut. This position will be part of an exciting team managing current and future construction projects related to major water and wastewater pump stations and transmission systems. It presents an opportunity to work on some of our nation’s most pressing water infrastructure problems and contribute to AECOM’s success as an industry leader in engineering and construction. The responsibilities of this position provide engineering services during construction, including: Contract management with emphasis on being liaison between AECOM design team, Contractor and Owner. Confirm that the contractor is submitting all submittals for review in a timely fashion so as not to inhibit the progress of the work. Provide technical and contractual input and review of active construction projects. Review or requests for information, change order proposals, pay requisitions, schedules, general and contractual correspondence between Engineer and Contractors. Manage multiple projects with onsite presence for construction meetings and at critical milestone events. The position is not intended for full‑time inspection of any one given project. Prepare and manage correspondence related to construction and identify key issues regarding disputed work, delays, additional and supplemental work, and non‑conforming work. Ensure that safety monitoring activities within the Projects(s) scope of work are being accomplished, monitoring safety activities per AECOM scope of work. Assist Resident Engineer and inspection staff in expediting technical solutions to field problems. Notify Engineer of any discrepancies between contract documents and work being performed. Review and resolve and/or approve Inspector and Contractor reporting, forms, testing, compliance and coordination issues. Lead in the negotiation of Change Orders. Verify that all field testing, start‑up, and operation and maintenance training activities are conducted in accordance with the contract documents. Minimum Requirements BA/BS and 8 years of experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education. Construction Management experience on water and/or wastewater capital improvement projects and a minimum of 8 years of overall experience. OSHA‑10 Hour Safety Certification. Valid U.S. Driver’s License; able to pass AECOM’s MVR review. Preferred Qualifications AS/BS in civil, environmental or mechanical engineering. 15+ years of construction experience in the Water/Wastewater industry, preferably in the Northeast. Strong leadership under pressure with a calm personality and thorough understanding of all aspects of contract administration. Good disputes avoidance skills and ability to align interests and keep different parties working together. OSHA‑30 Hour Construction Supervisor Certification.
