We are rapidly growing practice with offices across the globe. Our actuaries hold the highest professional qualifications and are nationally recognized as experts in their field(s). We use mathematical and statistical modeling skills and our qualitative assessment methodologies to assist clients in evaluating and addressing risk. Our solutions help clients manage and prepare for the potential financial consequences of uncertain future events. We bring a combination of broad-based expertise with specialized knowledge of specific risks, allowing us to provide independent, objective advice in the three primary areas of risk: healthcare, life and annuity, property and casualty.ResponsibilitiesDevelop financial models for mergers, acquisitions, internal and external reinsurance, and other capital markets transactions with minimal oversightManage actuarial due diligence, including review of actuarial appraisals, product features, experience studies/assumptions, and asset portfolio; breakdown of complex datasets into simple narratives and recommendationsDevelop executive level management reports, including development of data visualizationsPresent findings to senior management and C-suite executivesDevelop network of contacts throughout the industry via participation in deals, industry conferences, and other eventsParticipate in client sales meetings and proposal developmentWork in partnership with our management consulting and actuarial practices in the US and globallyAct as a trusted resource for both clients and junior staff for product- and technical-related actuarial questionsRequirements5+ years of professional experience in financial consulting or insurance - FSA preferredPrior life insurance M&A and pricing experience is requiredDemonstrated experience in actuarial pricing model development, profitability projections, and data flow managementStrong background in risk management, sensitivity analysis, and regulatory compliance testingProven experience in product development lifecycle and inforce policy managementFamiliarity with profitability measure calculations and develop sensitivity analyses for a broad range of life insurance and annuity productsBroad exposure to life insurance, annuity and/or long-term care knowledge and industry recognition in areas such as product development, valuation, financial reporting, and risk management with subject matter expertise in at least one areaAbility to lead and manage projects, including effective delegation and client solution developmentExposure to various accounting regimes (e.g. US NAIC, Bermuda EBS, US GAAP, IFRS, Solvency II)Proficiency in financial modeling, pricing, valuation with a focus on base case profitability and stress analysisAbility to deliver against tight deadlines, in fast-paced, demanding environmentsDetailed oriented with the ability to work on multiple projects concurrentlyEvidence of intellectual curiosity and ability to think strategically and creativelySelf-motivated, an entrepreneurial attitude, and not afraid of long hoursStrong communication skillsWhy Work for UsThe Actuarial Practice of Oliver Wyman seeks to invest in its people by fostering a safe and inclusive environment, respecting and welcoming different perspectives, promoting an ownership culture, providing opportunities for individuals to develop their personal brand, and celebrating successes and rewarding performance. The applicable base salary range for this role is $100k to $195k.The base pay offered will be determined on factors such as experience, skills, training, location, certifications, educations, and any applicable minimum wage requirements. Decisions will be determined on a case-by-case basis. In addition to the base salary, this position is eligible for meaningful performance-based incentives.
