Located in the heart of SoHo, Momoya SoHo brings traditional Japanese cuisine and contemporary New York dining together in a welcoming, thoughtfully designed setting. Our menu features sushi, Japanese kitchen dishes, and seasonal desserts, with an emphasis on quality ingredients and careful presentation.
We take pride in the work behind every dish and the hospitality our guests experience. We are looking for a dedicated Kitchen Cook who shares our commitment to quality and works well with a team.
About the PositionThe ideal candidate has at least three years of professional cooking experience in a busy restaurant and can maintain consistent food quality during high-volume service. Experience in a Japanese restaurant is preferred.
This position requires strong preparation skills, attention to detail, and clear communication. You should be comfortable following recipes and chef instructions, keeping your station organized, and coordinating with other cooks to ensure timely service.
ResponsibilitiesPrepare and cook menu items according to restaurant recipes, portion sizes, and presentation standards.
Complete daily mise en place and ensure your station is ready before service.
Maintain consistent cooking quality, seasoning, and plating during busy lunch and dinner services.
Follow chef instructions and communicate clearly with the kitchen team.
Handle, label, rotate, and store ingredients properly to maintain freshness and minimize waste.
Follow food safety, sanitation, and allergen-handling procedures.
Keep workstations, equipment, and storage areas clean and organized throughout the shift.
Monitor preparation levels and communicate shortages or ingredient concerns promptly.
Assist with receiving and organizing deliveries as needed.
Complete opening, closing, and cleaning duties.
Support fellow team members and contribute to a respectful, professional kitchen.
Minimum 3 years of professional cooking experience in a busy restaurant kitchen.
Japanese restaurant experience preferred.
Strong knife skills and a solid understanding of cooking techniques.
Ability to manage multiple orders while maintaining accuracy and consistency.
Knowledge of proper food handling, storage, and sanitation practices.
Reliable attendance, punctuality, and a strong work ethic.
Ability to follow directions, accept feedback, and work cooperatively.
Attention to detail and pride in the food you prepare.
The hourly pay range is $21–$24 , depending on relevant experience and qualifications.
