Controller Full Time Sells, AZ, US Salary Range: $75,000.00 To $85,000.00 Annually About the Role: The Controller plays a critical leadership role in overseeing the financial operations and reporting of the organization to ensure accuracy, compliance, and strategic financial management. This position is responsible for managing accounting functions, including general ledger, accounts payable and receivable, payroll, and financial statement preparation. The Controller collaborates closely with executive leadership to provide insightful financial analysis and support budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial planning. Ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements and internal controls is a key aspect of this role, safeguarding the organization's financial integrity. Ultimately, the Controller drives financial efficiency and transparency, enabling informed decision-making that supports the company’s growth and sustainability. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in accounting or financial management roles. Strong knowledge of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and financial reporting standards. Proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Excel. Experience managing a team and overseeing accounting operations. Preferred Qualifications: Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) designation. Experience with ERP systems such as ADP, Jenzabar or similar. Previous experience working in a Controller role or senior financial leadership position. Familiarity with financial modeling and advanced data analysis techniques. Experience in higher education. Responsibilities: Manage and oversee all daily accounting operations including accounts payable/receivable, general ledger, and bank reconciliations. Prepare and present accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports to senior management. Coordinate and lead the annual budgeting and forecasting processes in collaboration with department heads. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local financial regulations and standards, including tax filings and audits. Develop and maintain internal control policies and procedures to safeguard company assets and ensure financial accuracy. Supervise, mentor, and develop the accounting team to enhance performance and professional growth. Collaborate with external auditors and tax advisors to facilitate audits and tax planning. Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for cost savings and operational improvements. Skills: The Controller utilizes strong analytical skills daily to interpret complex financial data and generate meaningful reports that guide strategic decisions. Attention to detail and organizational skills are essential for managing multiple accounting processes and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. Leadership and communication skills are employed to effectively manage and develop the accounting team while collaborating with other departments and external partners. Proficiency in accounting software and Excel enables efficient handling of financial transactions, reconciliations, and reporting.
