Civil Engineer II

In this role, you will: Stamp your own designs. Produce the design analysis, calculations, contract documents, and technical specifications in Revit and AutoCAD, and carry them to a PE-stamped set that meets the firm's Performance Based Design standards. Build work plans and schedules that account for how long permitting actually takes. Set the scope, sequence, and dates for your projects with the reviewing agencies' timeframes built in, and raise scope changes while there is still schedule left to absorb them. Own the code and regulatory review on medium to high complexity projects. Lead the zoning, environmental, and safety code review, then take the design through client and governing agency review yourself, resolving comments rather than routing them upward. Design the site systems on the harder infrastructure projects. Handle stormwater systems, utility layouts, grading, retaining structures, and foundations, along with the soil mechanics evaluations behind them, and make the calls on the structural components of the site. Run construction administration on your projects with minimal supervision. Handle RFIs, shop drawing submittals, clarifications, and field inspections, oversee material testing and read the results against the specifications, and get answers back to the contractor before the field is waiting on you. Coordinate the disciplines and outside consultants, then verify what comes back. Organize and lead the project team meetings, keep everyone current on scope and schedule changes, and review the work that comes back instead of assuming it is right. Catch documentation inconsistencies before anything leaves the office. Review your own drawings and calculations, check the specifications and junior staff work against them, and resolve the conflicts you find with the team rather than passing them to the client or the contractor. Bring the junior engineers up. Give the engineers and designers behind you technical guidance on their assignments, sit with them on work they have not done before, and take what you learn into the Lessons Learned sessions so it does not stay with one project team. #J-18808-Ljbffr PROGRESSIVE COMPANIES
