Principal Software Developer

Overview The role is for a talented and experienced Developer to join our Enterprise Operations Platform (EOP) organization. You will be part of an Agile development team responsible for delivering next‑generation industrial software solutions that provide a software‑defined, data‑centric platform for automation across our customer base. Your work will focus on industrial edge‑connectivity, distributed computing, and high‑performance data services that securely move and manage massive volumes of information from the plant floor to the cloud. Responsibilities Actively participate with team members as part of a scaled Agile organization. Take high‑level strategic requirements and work with a team to refine them into actionable user stories with detailed acceptance criteria. Produce high‑quality, reliable, performant, and fault‑tolerant code to meet strategic business objectives. Monitor, support, and maintain software products in an Agile development environment. Design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines for both on‑premises and cloud infrastructure. Maintain and enhance in‑house DevOps tooling written in Bash and Python. Debug integration and performance problems. Contribute to a culture of accountability and collaboration across support, development, security, and product teams. Demonstrate adherence to security best practices and compliance requirements. Stay current with industry trends and best practices around cloud native and Software‑as‑a‑Service technologies. Communicate effectively as a participant in a variety of Agile ceremonies. Qualifications Required: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field; 8–12 years of related experience OR an advanced degree with less experience. Strong understanding of cloud‑native technologies, services, architecture, and container orchestration. Proficient in designing and implementing RESTful APIs. Practical, working experience with the following: Databases: MongoDB, Postgres, MSSQL Programming Languages: Java, JavaScript/TypeScript, C#, Python, Lua JavaScript Frameworks: Angular, React Continuous Integration: Azure DevOps Pipelines, GitHub Actions Cloud: Azure, Docker, Kubernetes, ArgoCD, Helm, Terraform Operating Systems: Windows, Linux Observability & Monitoring: OpenTelemetry Automated Testing Frameworks: Playwright Identity & Access Management: OAuth 2.0, Role‑Based Access Control (RBAC) Architecture: Microservices, REST API Design Data Platforms & Integrations: Inmation, Aveva PI Connect, Microsoft Fabric Experience with the following areas: Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible, etc.) CI/CD systems (GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps Pipelines) Artifact repositories and vulnerability scanning tools (Artifactory, Blackduck, Snyk) GitOps tools (Flux, ArgoCD) and promotion models Basic knowledge of IoT or Edge devices and an understanding of their strengths, weaknesses, constraints, and risks. Experience with Agile development frameworks such as SAFe or Scrum. Strong personal project management skills; self‑directed and capable of working effectively in an environment with a high degree of change. Strong technical leadership skills with a willingness to coach and mentor team members. Strong object‑oriented design and debugging skills. Willingness to contribute ideas and solutions while honoring and supporting the ideas of others. Passionate about finding creative solutions to problems and pride in well‑crafted code. The range represents a base compensation range. The role is also eligible for bonus or variable incentive pay.
