Instructional Designer

Digital Innovation Student Liaison (Work‑Study) This position is open to students who qualify for Work‑Study. No previous experience is required; successful candidates will receive training in the intentional use of digital technologies to support student learning. Location & Pay Schaffer Library, Design Studio (Library 205/206), Schenectady, NY. Rate of Pay: $9.70 per hour. Essential Responsibilities and Duties Create on‑demand, self‑directed documentation and training (articles, screencasts) for Union’s ITS knowledge base on topics such as Nexus, visual design, video editing, podcasting, and digital whiteboarding. Conduct “how‑to” technology workshops for students to produce digital media projects, within classes, on faculty request, or for the general Union student population. Hold regular “office hours” for one‑on‑one technology support for students needing help with learning technologies. Act as a liaison between students and librarians, staff, and services. Leverage Design Studio technology and equipment to complete tasks and accomplish goals. Perform time‑critical tasks, sometimes with minimal individual supervision. Work with a close‑knit team to provide education and support for the use of technologies to improve learning outcomes. Qualifications Ability to work independently after the training period. Interest in technology and digital tools. Effective oral and written communication skills. Professional and reliable. Understanding of HTML basics is a plus but not required.
