SUMMARY:

Maintain and enhance the grounds, gardens, lawns, and outdoor areas of Optimum Health Institute’s San Diego facility. The Landscaper is responsible for keeping outdoor areas attractive, clean, safe, and welcoming for guests, staff, and visitors. The ideal candidate has 5–10 years of professional landscaping experience, preferably in a hotel, resort, or hospitality environment, and strong knowledge of irrigation and sprinkler systems.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Maintain lawns, gardens, trees, shrubs, flower beds, and landscaped areas.
• Operate and maintain landscaping equipment, including lawnmowers, trimmers, blowers, and hand tools.
• Inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain irrigation and sprinkler systems, including sprinkler heads, valves, leaks, and timers.
• Monitor and adjust irrigation schedules to support healthy landscaping and conserve water.
• Perform planting, pruning, trimming, weeding, fertilizing, mulching, and other seasonal landscaping tasks.
• Keep walkways, outdoor common areas, and landscaped spaces clean, orderly, and presentable.
• Identify and report landscaping, irrigation, safety, and outdoor maintenance concerns.
• Assist with grounds improvement projects and seasonal landscaping enhancements.
• Follow safety procedures when operating equipment and handling landscaping materials or products.
• Maintain tools, equipment, and storage areas in a clean, organized, and safe condition.
• Coordinate with Maintenance and Operations to address groundskeeping priorities and facility needs.
• Provide courteous and professional service while working around guests, staff, and visitors.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

LEADERSHIP:

• Coordinate with Maintenance and Operations team members to communicate groundskeeping needs, work priorities, and safety concerns.

PROJECT MANAGEMENT DUTIES:

• Complete assigned landscaping and irrigation projects within established timelines.
• Report project progress, supply needs, and unexpected issues to the supervisor.
• Assist with planning seasonal planting, grounds improvements, and irrigation maintenance.

ADMINISTRATIVE DUTIES:

• Report completed work, repair needs, and supply or equipment requests to the supervisor.
• Notify the supervisor of irrigation problems, equipment damage, hazards, or conditions requiring additional attention.
• Follow applicable facility procedures and maintain accurate records when requested.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• 5–10 years of professional landscaping or groundskeeping experience.
• Strong working knowledge of irrigation and sprinkler systems, including troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance.
• Previous experience in a hotel, resort, hospitality facility, or comparable property preferred.
• Knowledge of plant care, lawn maintenance, pruning, fertilization, and seasonal landscaping.
• Ability to safely operate landscaping equipment and hand tools.
• Knowledge of water conservation and efficient irrigation practices preferred.
• Reliable, organized, detail-oriented, and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.

EDUCATION:

High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Relevant landscaping training or certifications are a plus.

EXPERIENCE:

Minimum of 5 years of professional landscaping experience; 5–10 years preferred. Experience maintaining grounds in a hotel, resort, or hospitality environment is preferred. Demonstrated hands-on experience with sprinkler and irrigation systems is required.

COMPUTER SKILLS:

Ability to use a smartphone or basic computer tools for communication, work requests, or maintenance records as needed. Ability to learn applicable company systems.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Must be able to speak, read, and write English fluently. Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions, communicate maintenance issues and concerns clearly, maintain effective communication with supervisors and team members, and interact professionally with guests, employees, vendors, and management.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to perform basic arithmetic and measurements as needed for landscaping materials, irrigation settings, and supply quantities.

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to identify landscaping and irrigation problems, assess priorities, troubleshoot routine issues, and determine when additional assistance is required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Must be able to stand, walk, bend, kneel, reach, and work outdoors for extended periods. Must be able to lift, carry, and move landscaping materials and equipment as required, including items weighing up to 25 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Work is primarily performed outdoors throughout the facility grounds. The position may involve exposure to varying weather conditions, soil, plants, irrigation systems, landscaping equipment, and related materials.

Schedule: Full time. Must be available to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays, as needed to meet operational and facility requirements
