Clinical Director / Cannabinoid Pharmacist /Physician Assistant / Registered Nurse Synchronicity Holistic Medical — Carmel-by-the-Sea, California Full-time 40 hours/week Onsite Reports to Owner/CEO About Synchronicity Holistic Medical Synchronicity Holistic opened in 2019 with a licensed pharmacist and RNs on staff and is now formalizing its medical cannabis operations as a distinct medical entity under California DCC licensing, with federal DEA registration as a Schedule III medical cannabis dispenser. The Clinical Director leads the clinical backbone of this medical program: evidence-based cannabinoid care, patient education, and clinical compliance for a patient population that includes seniors and veterans. Position Summary The Clinical Director / Cannabinoid Pharmacist is the senior clinical authority for Synchronicity Holistic Medical. This PharmD-level leader designs and oversees cannabinoid therapy protocols, builds and supervises the patient education program, maintains clinical recordkeeping aligned with federal Schedule III (CSA/DEA) requirements reconciled against California METRC, and represents the organization’s clinical standards to regulators, clinicians, and academic partners. Core Responsibilities Develop, maintain, and update evidence-based cannabinoid dosing and titration protocols (THC, CBD, CBG, minor cannabinoids; routes, ratios, and formulations) for common indications seen in the patient population, including pain, sleep, anxiety, oncology support, and neurodegenerative conditions. Conduct structured patient consultations: medication history review, drug–cannabinoid interaction screening (including CYP450 considerations), contraindication assessment, and individualized care plans. Establish referral and communication pathways with patients’ physicians, including documentation standards for coordinated care. Build specialty clinical tracks for senior care and veteran care, including polypharmacy review and deprescribing collaboration. Plan and oversee day‑to‑day patient care operations; act as liaison between patients, their families, and the clinical team. Develop and oversee clinical protocols and quality‑assurance standards across the medical program. Design and supervise the patient education curriculum delivered by patient educators and patient‑facing staff. Create standardized education materials on dosing, onset/duration by route, tolerance, side‑effect management, safe storage, and driving/impairment guidance. Lead community and clinician‑facing education events supporting the organization’s medical positioning. Compliance, Policy, and Recordkeeping (est. 25%) Develop and implement clinical policies and procedures governing the medical program. Maintain patient and program records in accordance with state and federal regulations. Own clinical‑side compliance for the DEA Schedule III medical registration: CSA‑aligned dispensing records, inventory accountability, and security procedures, reconciled against California METRC. Maintain clinical SOPs for the medical (M) license lane, kept structurally separate from adult‑use (A)operations — inventory, records, and accounting. Support internal audits (inventory, METRC, cash handling, security) and regulatory inspections; serve as clinical point of contact for DCC and DEA matters. Monitor federal rescheduling developments and state regulatory changes; brief ownership on material changes. Leadership, Staff Training, and Clinical Governance (est. 20%) Provide ongoing training, mentorship, and continuing education for the medical team. Train and credential patient‑facing staff on cannabinoid science, product categories, and scope‑of‑role boundaries (education vs. medical advice). Chair a recurring clinical review: adverse‑event tracking, protocol updates, and literature surveillance. Evaluate and integrate external clinical education resources and certification programs for staff development. Required Qualifications PharmD from an ACPE‑accredited program; active pharmacist license (California licensure or eligibility for licensure by reciprocity required within an agreed period). Formal cannabinoid/medical cannabis training — e.g., University of Maryland MS in Medical Cannabis Science and Therapeutics or equivalent graduate certificate. 3+ years of clinical practice with direct patient care (ambulatory, community, hospital, or integrative settings). Working knowledge of the endocannabinoid system, cannabinoid pharmacokinetics, and drug‑interaction management. Experience with controlled‑substance recordkeeping and regulatory compliance (DEA/CSA, state boards, or state cannabis track‑and‑trace). Preferred Qualifications Experience serving senior and/or veteran populations; geriatric or polypharmacy expertise. Prior work in a licensed cannabis, integrative medicine, or specialty clinic environment. Publication, teaching, or research experience in cannabinoid therapeutics. Compensation and Benefits California pay‑transparency law (SB 1162) requires the pay scale in any posting; the figures below are benchmarked to July 2026 market data. Base salary: $150,000/year (commensurate with experience in cannabinoid medicine). On‑property housing: private cottage in Carmel included, valued at approximately $42,000/year. Continuing‑education allowance (cannabinoid medicine conferences and coursework) and paid license/certification renewals. This position does not dispense prescription drugs and is not a Board of Pharmacy pharmacist‑in‑charge role; Synchronicity Holistic Medical operates under California DCC medical cannabis licensing and DEA Schedule III medical cannabis registration, not a pharmacy license.
