Job Title Senior Mechanical Estimator Location Gilbert, AZ Reports To Preconstruction Manager Employment Type Full‑Time, Exempt FLSA Job Summary The Senior Mechanical Estimator will lead the estimating group, developing accurate, competitive, and comprehensive mechanical construction estimates for complex industrial projects up to $25 M or higher depending on scope. Responsibilities Lead preparation of detailed estimates for projects up to $50 MM, considering complexity and self‑performance scope. Validate quantity take‑offs and ensure accurate input into estimating software. Apply advanced cost analysis and contingency planning for risk mitigation. Interpret P&ID drawings, isometrics, and contract documents to build detailed WBS and cost models. Represent the estimating team in client meetings, pre‑bid conferences, and negotiations. Communicate clearly with operations, procurement, and project management during pre‑construction. Develop and enforce estimating procedures, including pre‑estimate checklists and opportunity matrices. Oversee bid review meetings; ensure timely submission of RFIs and proposals. Ensure compliance with contractual requirements and company standards. Provide pragmatic analysis of project execution to optimize efficiency and profitability. Generate high‑level cash flow projections, risk analysis reports, and resource‑loaded schedules. Support business development with conceptual estimates and ROM pricing for new opportunities. Technical Expertise Interpret and analyze P&ID drawings and other technical documents. Utilize HCSS HeavyBid software for accurate estimating. Incorporate design methodologies such as DesignAssist and DesignBuild when applicable. Process Management Develop and enforce estimating procedures. Oversee bid review meetings and ensure timely submission of RFIs and proposals. Ensure compliance with contractual requirements and company standards. Strategic Contributions Provide pragmatic analysis of project execution to optimize efficiency and profitability. Generate high‑level cash flow projections, risk analysis reports, and resource‑loaded schedules. Support business development with conceptual estimates and ROM pricing for new opportunities. Minimum Qualifications 3–5+ years of industrial construction estimating experience, with at least 2 years in a leadership role. Estimating experience with Accubid, HCSS, HeavyBid, and/or HeavyJob. Ability to read and interpret P&ID drawings and technical schematics. Experience with MSP or P6 scheduling. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Project and Excel. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, or related discipline. Direct involvement in civil, concrete, structural steel, equipment setting, and mechanical construction. Experience with DesignAssist and DesignBuild delivery methods. Proven ability to manage multiple complex bids simultaneously. Physical Demands and Work Environment Mostly indoor office setting with controlled temperature. Occasional outdoor industrial sites with exposure to extreme weather, noise, dust, chemicals. Travel up to 10% of time.
