Role Description The Head Athletic Trainer is a full-time, on-site role based in Knoxville, TN, responsible for overseeing athletic training services for assigned teams and athletes. This role includes assessing and treating sports-related injuries, designing and implementing injury prevention programs, and coordinating rehabilitation plans in collaboration with physicians and physical therapists. The Head Athletic Trainer will manage daily training room operations, supervise athletic training staff, maintain documentation of evaluations and treatments, and ensure compliance with relevant regulations and best practices. This position also involves working closely with coaches and support staff to optimize athlete health, performance, and safe return-to-play decisions, including coverage at practices, games, and related events. Qualifications Candidates should possess strong Athletic Training and Injury Prevention skills, including experience with on-field assessment and acute care. Candidates should possess Rehabilitation and Prevention skills, with the ability to develop and monitor individualized recovery and return-to-play plans. Candidates should possess Strength & Conditioning knowledge to support safe performance enhancement and functional training programs. Current certification as an Athletic Trainer (ATC) and eligibility for or current Tennessee state licensure required. Bachelor's degree in Athletic Training or related field required; master's degree in a related discipline preferred. Experience in collegiate or high-level competitive athletics strongly preferred, with prior leadership or supervisory responsibilities beneficial.
