Sales Representative - Grocery| Los Angeles, CA

As an outside Sales Representative for Bunzl Distribution’s Grocery organization, you will be accountable for meeting and exceeding sales targets across the  California geography . This is a field-based, customer-facing territory sales role focused on both account management (existing accounts) and new business development (prospecting) in a B2B sales environment.

In addition to serving as a business development partner, you will build customer relationships, handle customer complaints and inquiries, manage accounts receivable, and effectively communicate with all appropriate internal departments and support personnel. As a sales representative for Bunzl, you will have the opportunity to work in a fast paced and ever-changing environment where attention to detail, a strong sense of urgency, initiative and drive for results are integral to achieving personal, professional and company success.

As part of Bunzl’s grocery segment, you’ll support a diverse portfolio of disposable goods-not-for-resale used in grocery store operations—including paper goods, packaging, janitorial supplies, safety, sanitation, and PPE. Our customers include supermarkets, grocery chains, wholesalers, and independent retailers, where you’ll support both day-to-day store needs and broader operational efficiency.

This territory covers South California. An ideal candidate would be centrally located or located near Los Angeles, CA to efficiently cover the customers and geography; but we will consider applicants anywhere within the territory listed.

Responsibilities:

• Manage and expand existing customer relationships by delivering exceptional service and driving incremental account growth.
• Increase sales through prospecting and building business with new accounts.
• Meet or exceed sales and margin KPIs.
• Demonstrate outstanding customer service to build relationships, ensure customer satisfaction and actively cultivate new customer relationships to realize future sales growth potential.
• Promote new products and drive sales of Bunzl internal house brands and preferred brands where appropriate.
• Implement and manage pricing strategies within all accounts.
• Complete weekly planning and scheduling of customer visits, with a strong understanding of objectives for each visit.
• Present monthly recaps of targeted sales priorities to sales leadership.
• Develop a strong understanding of Bunzl products, with the ability to demonstrate features and benefits by using product samples and/or catalog specifications.
• Establish and grow new accounts.
• Provide timely and accurate sales forecast to the operational and leadership team to ensure inventory levels are accurate.
• Evaluate pricing quarterly to maintain and protect margins.
• Participate in Industry Association Functions such as Trade Showes and other events.
• Work with outside vendors on new materials and new innovative packaging solutions with regards to packaging.

Requirements:  

• High School Diploma or GED Required.
• Bachelor's degree preferred.
• 2+ years of inside/outside sales experience.
• Practical sales experience in at least one of the following markets is preferred: food/meat processing, industrial processing, plant operating supplies, personal protection equipment or related safety items. Or previous experience selling in a paper, packaging, janitorial/sanitation or food service distribution industry.
• Effectively planning daily and weekly sales and operations activity thought your geography.
• User level proficiency in Windows operating environment and proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, TEAMs, Power BI, CoPilot).
• Experience with MS Dynamics or another CRM tool.
• Work effectively in situations that involve change and/or competing demands.
• Proficient handling of all confidential and time-sensitive material.
• Strong Results Orientation and Sense of Urgency.
• High level of Personal Accountability.
• Ability to Identify and Prioritize Key Initiatives.
• Daily/weekly travel within the listed geography is required, including overnight stays as needed.
• Must have and maintain a valid US driver’s license.

• As a Sales Representative, this role will have a total first year compensation package of $70,304 -$125,000 (+ up to 15% bonus at target and car allowance) based on candidate experience, education & geography.  
• Medical, dental, vision, and life insurance available to employees and eligible dependents starting the first day of the month after 30 days of employment (unless otherwise specified by a collective bargaining agreement).
• 401(k) retirement plan with a generous company match of $0.75 per $1.00 contributed, up to 6% of eligible pay, available after 30 days.
• Paid time off, including (Pro-rated based on hire date):
  • 10 vacation days and 2 personal days annually (prorated in the first year based on hire date).
  • 40 hours annual sick pay (56 hours sick pay per year for candidates hired in Washington, in accordance with Washington State law).
  • 6 paid national holidays and 2 floating holidays
