Onsite Desktop Support Analyst — End-User IT & VIP Support

Desktop Support Analyst (Full-time, Chicago, IL) Cognizant is seeking a Desktop Support Analyst for a full-time opportunity in Chicago, IL. This role will be working out of our client location in Chicago, IL. Applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship. This role does not offer visa transfer or sponsorship now or in the future. Responsibilities Provide direct assistance to end users in troubleshooting and resolving hardware and software issues. Assess faults, conduct repairs, streamline processes, and ensure optimal customer service to contribute to efficient IT operations. Perform Level 2 onsite support for complex customer issues and requests. Lead deployment of software releases, system upgrades, and patches on end‑user devices. Manage procurement and asset management of end‑user devices. Lead activities such as customer relocations and departmental infrastructure build‑outs. Analyze symptoms of problems to identify causes and determine solutions. Triage issues related to physical layers, usernames, and passwords. Uninstall/reinstall basic software applications, verify proper hardware and software configuration, and assist users with application menus. Perform onsite installations or replacements of various hardware components and software repairs. Conduct diagnostic testing and use remote‑control tools to assist users when troubleshooting. Maintain a professional appearance and adhere to a business‑professional dress code (well‑tailored suits, button‑down shirts, etc.). Provide hands‑and‑feet support for servers, storage, backup, and network equipment, including IPT endpoints, Virtual Endpoint Support, and Win 7/Win 10/Windows Server environments. Support Tier 1 VIPs as required. Stay up to date with current technologies related to network operations, desktop administration, and ITIL best practices. Qualifications 3 to 5 years of experience as a Desktop Support Analyst. Strong technical knowledge of desktop operating systems and software applications. Experience providing deskside support to end‑users in a corporate environment. Ability to troubleshoot hardware and software issues on desktops, laptops, and mobile devices. Familiarity with remote access tools and techniques. Experience working with Active Directory and other directory services. Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively under pressure. Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as required. Salary range: $63,000 – $87,000, depending on skills and qualifications.
