This direct placement role offers an opportunity for an experienced welding fabricator to work on boom truck components on a steady night shift schedule. You will perform MIG and TIG welding on steel, fabricating and fitting parts such as truck bodies, beds, and booms with a focus on quality, safety, and precision.

Responsibilities

  • Perform MIG welding on steel components used in boom trucks, including truck bodies, beds, and booms.
  • Carry out TIG welding tasks on steel parts as required by production specifications.
  • Fit and assemble metal parts and structures prior to welding to ensure proper alignment and dimensions.
  • Interpret and follow work instructions, basic drawings, or job travelers to complete assigned fabrication tasks.
  • Inspect welds and fabricated assemblies for quality, accuracy, and adherence to company standards.
  • Use appropriate tools and equipment to prepare materials, including cutting, grinding, and positioning steel components.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in accordance with shop safety practices.
  • Collaborate with team members and supervisors to meet production goals and deadlines on the night shift.
  • Follow established procedures and guidelines for operating welding and fabrication equipment.
  • Report any equipment issues, material defects, or safety concerns promptly to the appropriate personnel.

Essential Skills

  • Proven experience as a welding fabricator or welder/fitter working with steel components.
  • Strong proficiency in MIG welding on steel, including the ability to produce consistent, structurally sound welds.
  • Hands-on experience with TIG welding on steel parts.
  • Ability to weld and fabricate truck bodies, truck beds, booms, or similar heavy steel structures.
  • Competence in fitting and assembling metal parts prior to welding.
  • Capability to work reliably on a 3rd shift schedule, Monday through Thursday, 8:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.
  • Solid understanding of basic safety practices in a welding and fabrication environment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience working in manufacturing environments producing boom trucks or comparable heavy equipment.
  • Familiarity with operating standard shop tools and fabrication equipment such as grinders, cutters, and positioners.
  • Ability to read and follow basic fabrication instructions, job travelers, or simple drawings.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality welds and assemblies.
  • Willingness to work night shifts and adapt to production demands.

Work Environment

This position is based in a manufacturing and fabrication facility focused on building boom trucks and related steel structures. You will work on a 1st shift or 3rd shift schedule from Monday to Thursday, 6:00am-4:00pm or 8:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m., with a shift differential for night work. The environment involves regular use of welding equipment, MIG and TIG machines, steel fabrication tools, and material handling equipment. Work is performed in a shop setting where adherence to safety procedures, use of appropriate personal protective equipment, and suitable work attire for an industrial environment are required.

This is a Permanent position based out of Omaha, NE.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $52000.00 - $62400.00/yr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
