Full Time Assistant Store Manager

$10.75 - $14.75 per hour

Responsibilities Provide best-in-class guest service: greet guests promptly; respond to questions or concerns quickly, effectively, and courteously; assist guests with their video gaming needs; inform guests of special promotions; recommend additional items as appropriate; apply all selling behaviors during every transaction and thank each guest for shopping at GameStop; circulate throughout the store to prioritize guests over tasks. Support the total shopping environment, including visual and operational elements, current sales initiatives, and the guest relationships that lead to sales and repeat business. Promptly and accurately process guest purchases and returns using the POS system; handle transactions with correct changes, provide receipts, and deliver top-notch guest service. Respond to guest comments or questions in person or by phone; answer calls promptly and professionally; escalate issues to the Store Manager when appropriate. Promote GameStop’s guest benefits, such as new title reservations, trade-in program, and Pro Rewards loyalty program. Assist the Store Manager with setting guest service expectations for associates and training them in company policies, procedures, practices, and guidelines. Observe associate performance, provide timely feedback, address unsatisfactory performance, and ensure alignment with company and store guest service expectations. Provide recognition and feedback to store associates; document written feedback in the HR system in partnership with the Store Manager. With the Store Manager, ensure associates complete onboarding and training prior to opening or closing shifts; ensure familiarity with policies, inventory control and loss prevention practices, safety, financial protocol, and ethics. Schedule associates to ensure appropriate coverage; manage staffing levels to maintain best-in-class guest service. Approve payroll, manage paid time off, adjust time records, and verify pay for all time worked. Maintain a clean, organized store and ensure merchandise is properly displayed and store fixtures and equipment are in good working order. Ensure Omni-Channel orders are fulfilled and shipped daily. Protect company assets through inventory control and loss prevention; conduct safety awareness and communicate concerns to the Store Manager. Support the store team in meeting sales, profit, and shrink goals and complete required administrative tasks. Perform store inventory counts, restock merchandise, and ensure products are represented and organized on the floor. Balance daily POS transactions; complete closeout paperwork accurately; manage cash and deposits as required. Verify shipments for discrepancies, conduct inventories, and communicate variances to the Store Manager/ District Manager. Process defectives/recalls and stock pulls with accurate labeling and packing lists. Maintain awareness of associate and guest safety; report injuries promptly according to company guidelines. Assist in maintaining store records and ensure manuals are up to date. Supervise and delegate tasks to Sales Associates and Retail Keyholders in the Store Manager’s absence. Adhere to GameStop policies, the Associate Handbook, and the Code of Standards, Ethics & Conduct. Adhere to opening and closing procedures. Qualifications Must provide proof of identity and eligibility to work in the United States. Must be at least 18 years old. High school diploma or equivalent required; an associate’s or bachelor’s degree with emphasis in business, marketing, merchandising, or related field is preferred. At least 6 months of retail management experience preferred. At least 2 years of retail sales, guest service, and/or management experience preferred. Video game knowledge preferred. Key Skills and Abilities Outgoing and welcoming personality with strong people skills. Provide genuine and individualized assistance to every guest during every visit. Clear verbal and written communication and listening skills; English required; bilingual English/Spanish preferred. Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and meet objectives. Work independently and as part of a team; perform tasks timely. Meet performance expectations including attendance, personal appearance, safety, and respectful workplace. Operate the Point-of-Sale (POS) system. Basic mathematics and alphabetizing skills. Complete required paperwork properly and follow instructions in written or verbal form. Execute financial tasks in accordance with company policy. Flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and some holidays; minimum 3 days per week availability. Ability to work under pressure, adapt to change, and maintain guest service quality; problem solving a plus. Reliable and trustworthy with good judgment. Able to work alone and stand/move for extended periods (up to 12 hours per day). Physical ability to bend, stoop, reach, lift up to 30 lbs and perform related tasks. May require onboarding a basic understanding of military ranks for stores located on military bases where applicable.
